Our current README is ancient... I think it's from the original, JSON-based version of the site before a hero RCRer (Ellis?) Jekylled the mess into something more reasonable. Lots of great stuff recently from Nick's reworking -- clearer layout etc.

Anyways, I guess it should just be "Edit and push!" + some description of the directory layout, but wanted to check in and see if someone more knowledgable might want to drive?

Haven't gotten around to doing it, but it would be nice to have a calendar with just weekend runs. :-) Just requires a bit of refactoring in the python script.

We have about 100MB of posters in the repo, a little more than half the repo's size. There's plenty of room left to grow, but the heft already makes clones and deployments slow. Now that we have some other assets to track as well (LRR art, new logo art), it's a good time to think about setting up another repo for these, and to consider scrubbing them from this repo. This means rewriting the repo's history, so something to look at in the offseason.

It's definitely preferable to what mkical is currently doing.

The main sticking point seems to be the icalendar package. Briefly looked into it, seems really complicated. (Like we might as well be writing our own ICS.) Maybe this package is easier to use? https://pypi.org/project/ics/

We wouldn't have to switch off python since the default github sites builder won't accept custom plugins (last time I checked). We'd have to switch to a custom action/CI to build the site. Seems worth, though, just to keep the ICS file up-to-date.

Also we should make sure it gets added to .gitignore and removed from the index when we switch.
