Describe the bug

As the title describes, when entering a system with a ally commander the no one else spawn in and the player instantly wins the game.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Find any system with ally commander
  2. Enter battle and you will see no other commander on top left.
  3. Spawn in and instantly win.

Expected behaviour

A normal battle should occur with an extra subcommander on the player's team.

[BUG] I Can't progress on galaxy map, saves rollback to before

Describe the bug

When playing today, after I have played and won the battle in the second system(not counting the two free systems) on the galaxy map, I rollback to after I've won the first system. Playing the second system(same or any other one doesn't matter) again, rolls me back to after the win after the second battle, once again, so I can't progress.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Start a game: small galaxy, titans AI, Expanded, GW-Silver(have tried gold as well), the six checkboxes[-][x][x][-][-][-][x], any commander(General for easy AFK wins while testing, have tried others as well, make no difference)
  2. Pick up the two free Tech Cards from the two unoccupied systems.
  3. Pick any enemy occupied system to do the first Battle.
  4. After(hopefully) winning first Battle, you now stand in the conquered system.
  5. Explore it and pick a third Tech Card
  6. Then pick a second enemy occupied system and battle that commander/s.
  7. After winning second battle, I am now back to "4.", in the same system I earlier won my first battle in and am about to explore it and pick my third tech card again(as if I never picked a third one). The system I picked in "6." is now occupied again.

4.->5.->6.->7.->4. will loop add infinitum(probably, have only tried to loop it three times), even if you take another system in step 5. It clearly loads the autosave from after winning battle in step 4, maybe instead of doing another autosave, I dunno.

Expected behaviour

Short and bitter sweet, I expected the game to progress, not kicking me back to the previous system, effectively erasing my progress.

I've only played on small galaxies for the moment, trying to unlock all the new commanders, so I haven't tried anything larger, shouldn't really matter.
I've tried this several times now, 6 times, maybe 7, with the same result every time. Have restarted the game several times and have tried to disable the mod, test regular Galactic War(no rollback issue there), re-enable the mod, restart game, try again, same issue.
(Also, an unrelated issue, when trying regular GW after disabling GWO, the General Commander had Three slots, and all of them were free. The two "support commander tech cards" were not even there in any of the slots, but they still showed up in combat. I'm not going back to regular GW, so I don't really care, but might be worth looking into why the mod doesn't clean up after itself when disabled.)
Saw you made an update very recently, might be related. Though, from reading said logs, sounds far fetched, didn't sound related at all. I've been playing pretty frequently over the past week, and the latest updated is from Friday(2022-08-12), and I've been playing at least a little every day during the weekend. Since the game looks for updates for active mods at startup(it claims it does at least), I've at least had the update while paying yesterday(Sunday(I tend to leave games on while AFK/sleeping)), but this only started happening today(Monday).
My memory is a bit foggy after troubleshooting this for so long today, but I think it might've started randomly in the same gaming session, after clearing a small galaxy without issue, then having the issue when starting a new galaxy without shutting down the game-client. But I could be wrong about that, since sometimes --for some reason-- the GW-intro video does not load(after pressing "go to war" the client window just goes black(can still see edge UI) and remains unresponsive) and I have to restart the whole game-client. Happens fairly often, so maybe I got the update when restarting the game after that, depending on how slow or fast PA:T is when updating mods.

Logs

The logs are from the most recent game session strictly from starting the game, and then loading latest savegame that was at stuck at "Step 4.", so the logs only include when I play "steps 4-7" and rolling back to step 4. So the bug should be in there, but might miss a few crucial clues from the beginning steps. I have so many logs from the past two days(51), dunno which is which. Besides, I have probably wasted 8h troubleshooting this already, on my vacation no less. I've done my best to do my due diligence, but I'm going out of town tomorrow, so I'm out, can't promise I'll be able to provide you with any additional feedback within any reasonable time, sorry.

[BUG] Game Freeze

Game Pauses Time By Itself

I only have the overhaul mod enabled with the mods activated by default and those are: Ai Bugfixes And Enhancements

the game freezes but i can still interact with the mouse

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:
it keeps happening at start of the game exactly around 5-6 minutes (i haven't fast forward the time)

it started happening 2 updates ago meaning of which: 1 week ago

Describe the bug

Game stops during battle. Every unit freezes but the camera and If I recall, the UI works as well but doesn't update. Timing is not exact. Can happen in the first few moments of a fight or 10 mins into it. Confirmed that it only happens when Galactic War mod is installed. Fresh install, verified, only mod installed. Same issue.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Just start a galactic war and start a fight. Settings do not change the effect.

Expected behaviour

Everything stops but you can still use the UI, back out to the galactic map etc.

[BUG] Galactic war freezes midway through battles

Describe the bug

While playing GW, the game will freeze after a battle has been going on for a dozen or so minutes. The battle will not ever recover from this state. The UI and camera still move but the units don't move.

  3. Play the game normally, the battle will freeze after ~15 minutes

[BUG] Guardians will occasionally spawn in an idle mode.

Guardians will occasionally spawn in an idle mode. For me it will occur every 2nd or 3rd time I make it that far.
Does not seem to matter whether or not it's the last battle in the system

Random thought - could it matter which new commander is staged to unlock?
I've since deleted my old localstorage, but it seems to me that this also occurred when all of the loadouts were unlocked.

[BUG] Sub Commander is killing the gaming fun / The computer plays with itself

Describe the bug

As soon as one has the Sub Commander, "playing" the game is very easy:

  1. Move your Commander to the Sub Commander Base
  2. Wait until the Sub Commander has finished the mission
    With the "Iron" difficulty, this works for 100%.

If one has no more challenges oneself, then the game is immediately no longer fun.

I suspect it's pretty hard to reduce the sub commander AI to help win the battle, but not guarantee it.

The description of the Sub Commander Tech Card would have to include at least a vigorous warning that if you play with it, that you yourself will become obsolete.

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. With "Iron" difficulty (I don't know if this matters)
  2. Start a game with the Sub Commander
  3. Move your own Commander to the Sub Commander Base
  4. Wait until the Sub Commander won the game.

Expected behaviour

The Sub commander should not guarantee to win the game, but it should help to get it.

Units freeze mid battle - unplayable afterwards

I think i discovered a bug, possibly related to GW-AI-Overhaul for Planetary Annihilation Titans.

What happens:
When I play galactic war, during a battle, units completely freeze. I can select them with my mouse, i can spin the planet, i can zoom in etc., but all units and explosions are static. Note that this happens during the first battle in galactic war with GW-AI-Overhaul active, not on vanilla. This problem has been noted by multiple players in steam troubleshooting discussions.

Mods installed during playthrough:
Galactic War Overhaul, PA Chat, WPMarshall's Map Pack, More Pew Pew, Milkyway Skybox, System Sharing for Titans & Classic

*My PC setup is more than powerful enough, nevertheless I play on medium details as to not lag on gigantic battles full of orbital units etc.

What will I try next:
I will try to disable all mods, especially more pew pew and test it again and see how the works.

[BUG] Modifiers not applied to non-default ammos

The Skitter and Firefly ammos are not receiving modifiers applied through cards. modSpecs() is applying the modifiers, but for some reason this is not then carrying through to the unit in-game, which continues to utilise the base stats.

[BUG] Incorrect handling of ammo_id arrays

TITANS allowed for the use of an array of objects against a weapon's ammo_id. This is used by the torpedo launchers to differentiate their land and water ammos. The Galactic War referee cannot handle this, leading to the following errors in the log:

ERROR ammo_id json is incorrect. Array element is not an object
ERROR ammo_id json is incorrect. Object elements are not strings

This is due to it inserting the following into the weapon's spec:

The expectation is that GW.specs.genUnitSpecs() will need to be replaced by the mod, but the root cause has not yet been traced. Currently this appears to generate errors but not impact the application of mods to the unit,

[ENHANCEMENT] Queller Sub commanders play sub optimally on Foundation home system

Describe the bug

The sub commanders play on the gold brain while the enemy play on the uber brain, which means the enemy is a lot better at designating their resource usage and interplanetary warfare. This isn't much of a problem in a smaller system, but when there are multiple planets and multiple spawns, my sub commanders are unable to go orbital and tech up. They simply proceed to spam ground units after clearing the planet and lag the game

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. Play on any multi-planetary system with spawns available on multiple planets. Boss level such as the foundation suffers from this problem the most.
  2. clear out all enemy ground forces on the spawning planet, and go into the orbital phase.
  3. enter a stalemate with both sides trying to tech up.
  4. Sub commander proceeds to spam ground unit nonstop and doesn't tech up, lagging the game in the process

Expected behaviour

In my opinion, sub commanders should also use uber brains but with an econ nerf. Something like 0.9 econ rate or 0.85 would make them capable of playing the game but not so strong they can just carry the players by themselves. This could be an optional setting in a custom galaxy tho I feel it should be the default setting. I think this is a suitable change as I don't feel there is that big of a difference between uber and gold ground combat, as, with the appropriate cards, my sub commanders can often 1v2 enemy despite being outsmarted. However, in the late game, the gold commander is useless and simply lags the game while the enemy adapts to the situation.

I don't have a screenshot of my game tho I checked the stats and my sub commanders built around 1000 units each after the enemy got cleared out. I have a lot of econ tech but they invest all the money into tier 1 ground units.

Describe the bug

When I play on the Galatic War, enemy Commanders do not spawn at the start of the system. I and my sub-commanders are the only ones that spawn. By the time the intro sequence ends and I get to the surface, It brings up the "Victory" soundcard and gives me the win card. Why this happens I don't know, and I don't like the fact that I have to play around Tech landmines that break the game if I take them

I have found this error to happen when I have more than 2 Sub-Commanders, and I have the Commander Duplication Tech.

Describe the bug

Defender personality sub commander incapable of expanding to build more factories and take metal depots.

This COULD be caused by factory upgrade tech but I doubt that's the case as I remember it occurred before I got the tech.

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

  1. get a defender sub commander
  2. go into game
  3. this COULD be caused by factory upgrade tech but that's unclear

[BUG] Difficulty spike with Iron Difficulty

Describe the bug

This is not really a technical bug (so I removed the previous fluff) but a design problem; I found that the difficulty ramp-up from Casual to Iron was too big.

To Reproduce

Previously I played and won Galactic War on Casual: I don't camp much and a 1 vs 1 game against a Casual AI takes me around ~20 minutes. That said, they never posted more then a minor challenge to so started a second Galactic War on Iron... and I run into a brick wall.

Once I make it to one of the faction leaders, I'm suddenly in a 2 vs 1, where the AI expends in all directions, and I can't economically keep up: Or they win the space race and I die by death from above, or I keep control over the skies but I slowly and steadily loose ground control.

Actions

I feel that a more gradual development might be necessary. I understand that I'm just a casual player and that most PA players will laugh at an Iron AI, but I do hope that early on, players can get some more slack.

[BUG] Friendly ally commander not working using space Ext loadout

Ally commander doesn't work and goes afk . I was using blue faction and Space Ext loadoutwhen this bug happened

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

1.pick space extractor loadout
2. Go play a game with an ally commander

Expected behaviour

Ally commander should work or not be offered if the intention is that the Space Ext loadout get's no ally
