the proper gremlin syntax for what you are trying to do is
g.addV('label').property(id, 'uuid')
Note that "label" is in single quotes, "uuid" is in single quotes, and id is not. I have gotten this to work, so I think the script evaluation error that is being returned is due to incorrect gremlin syntax.
