GetHub README

GetHub is a Chrome extension that displays desktop notifications for new updates in your Github NewsFeed.

GetHub was made for the geeks whose primary Social Network is GitHub and who keep checking for updates, a dozen times every hour. :)

Usage

  1. Install GetHub.
    1. You can get it from the store OR
    2. install it from the git repository. Follow the steps described in #4 of the Create and load and extension section
  2. Add your GitHub username and token to GetHub’s options. You can find your github token in the Github news feed URL (at the top right of github.com when logged in).
  3. You may also set the frequency at which you wish to check for new updates and the notification display time.
  4. Optionally, you can also enable the option of being notified for your own actions.

gethub's Issues

power consumption and performance

x86 architecture is one of the widely used embedded computing platform if power consumption is not an issue.
reason ??

may be !!

x86 arc has clock speed more than 3.5 GH And a had an ISA , those make the x86 in the first from performance , but when we goes to the power consumption we know that high clock lead to use high power (drop voltage) , and this issue make it out offside the tablet and mobile , while the ARM has low power consumption but it proportion to tablet

User Profile Images

Hey @punchagan, great extension, I really like it.

I don't know if Chrome supports this, but if it is it would be cool if you can show the profile image of the user which triggered the notification, instead of the Google Chrome logo.

Thanks a lot.

Github Tokens

It looks like github tokens are deprecated. What are your plans for fixing this extension?

Pop-up Timeouts

Please add an option to make popups go away after some time.

Thanks.

Interest in merging efforts?

Hello there,

I've been working on Github-Omnibox for a little while with a collaborator or two and have been thinking about forming a small team or org. We would be able to collaborate on improving each other's work. Do you think you'd be interested?

Here is my extension https://github.com/ProLoser/Github-Omnibox

I'm currently proposing the same thing to https://github.com/auiWorks/GitHub-Reviewer https://github.com/petebacondarwin/github-pr-helper and https://github.com/mesuutt/github-annotator

Specify github hostname?

Some users run a local Github:FI install. If the github hostname could be specified in the options i could use your great plugin for the internal Github too.

Github token no longer available

Github has recently removed the API v2 token from the github profile in preparation for their v3 API (which will use OAuth 2 instead). As far as I can see, anybody who didn't have this token saved elsewhere can no longer start using Gethub.

Would it be possible to implement OAuth for Gethub as well? My javascript is weak so there's no code attached I'm afraid, but the relevant API page is: http://developer.github.com/v3/events/
