I had a situation in which I wanted to have two Table of contents on one page. To achieve this I changed the following code:

I replaced
let TOC = document.getElementById(toc.replace(/\#/g, ''))

with
let TOCS = document.querySelectorAll(toc);

and I replaced
TOC.insertAdjacentHTML('beforeend', html)

with

for (var i = 0; i < TOCS.length; i++) {
    TOCS[i].insertAdjacentHTML('beforeend', html);
}

Now you can use a class name to add the (multiple) table of content to. It makes your script a little bit more flexible I belief.

Hi,
First of all, thank you for your work; your TOC script works very smoothly.

What I would like to see is:

• the ability to specify the container from which the script grabs headers to build a table of contents
• active CSS class added to the selected TOC element (item)

Could you provide us with these features?

This is the current code being output
ul>h2,h2,h3
How would we go about?
ul>h2,h2>ul,h3
This enables us to use the active class in order to hide a submenu when the parent is not active.
