I am using Archlinux with Sway a tiling Wayland based compositor, which is built on top of wlroots. It supports XWayland and Wayland native software.
Before reporting this bug, I have found someone dealing with a similar issue using Fedora 32 (Gnome 3, which has a different wayland compositor called mutter) while using Wayland.
This seems to be a problem related with the support of wayland and not a specific wayland compositor problem.

After changing the Qt frontend to use QOpenGLWidget instead of QGLWidget, rendering output is broken.
At some point in the rendering queue, OpenGL resources become corrupted, e.g. vertex buffers have invalid or wrong contents (too few vertices). This subsequentially breaks the vertex shader and causes following commands to also fail, rendering garbage.

The main difference between rendering into an SDL2 OpenGL or QGLWidget context is that the new QOpenGLWidget expects GL commands to render into a FBO instead of directly into the current GL context. ProjectM doesn't really care about OpenGL contexts or FBO usage, which might be the root cause of this issue.
RenderDoc captures of both the Qt and SDL frontends, using the same preset, can be found here.
Please add documentation so people can build and run this.
UI has maximum input of 99 for fps

Winamp had a feature in which you could enter different math functions to make your own vis plugin on the fly, perhaps this could be integrated into project M.
Are the issues in this repo reflective of what has to be fixed to get back to a functional app? Would like get this working again so please know how I can help!
If I change the presetDuration in the settings in the qt app, the value is not propagated to the app nor saved to the config file. I have to manually edit the config file in order to get the values to change.
Looking at the code, qprojectmconfigdialog.cpp calls projectM::writeConfig, but it never does anything to update the actual values inside the running application. Also, the config it writes has both the new value and the old value, so the new value isn't seen on restart either:

When you use Project M with external Beamer and want to show the Presets Window on a second Screen.
On the Main Screen you have a white underline with the Text what you get when you move the mouse over the Presets.
This Info-Line must be in the Presets Window but not in the main Window.
Can you change this?
