How to use the driver?

I'm building this in openwrt/lede (latest version) and it builds just fine. On the device, it loads and I can bring the network interface up via ifconfig rai0. I see in dmesg that the driver is working fine. However, iw wont work with the driver, neither will wpa_supplicant. I looked at iwpriv, but it tells me no private ioctls. I'm not sure if I'm missing a way to use the network device or if it's an issue with my hardware.

I have a 7610e in a tplink 902ac hw version 3. Using 4.14.37 kernel and latest version of openwrt-mt7610e. Let me know if you want messages from dmesg and so forth.
