ungoogled-chromium-portable's Issues

Could you upgrade it to the latest version?

I noticed that the Brave portable has been updated more frequently, whereas ungoogled-chromium portable's version is lagging quite a lot behind the official one. So could you please update it to the latest official version?

Alternatively, will it be working properly if I simply download the latest windows_x64.zip from https://github.com/ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium-windows/releases and extract it to & overwrite X:\ungoogled-chromium-portable\app\? Or will this mess up the existing folder X:\ungoogled-chromium-portable\ or cause any problem?

Many thanks.

Request: Please can you credit Marmaduke, the main developer of your Chromium release?

Hello @crazy-max: I salute your effort to make a portable version of Chromium. 👍
https://github.com/portapps/ungoogled-chromium-portable

Please, can you credit the source of your Chromium releases which is done by Marmaduke (@macchrome)?

Indeed, Marmaduke is the only developer on the Web who compile the latest stable Chromium versions with support of all codecs (H.264, H.265...) and the Widevine plugin. Note: the support of H.265/HEVC (Online audio/video tester) in Chromium is not documented at all. Most of browser does not support it. So it is difficult to reproduce this release.

The Windows versions from the Eloston repository are all outdated.

After that, I can promote your work on our site if you want.
It means a link of your portable release at https://chromium.woolyss.com/ for the corresponding Marmaduke's "ungoogled" release. 😉

Thank you very much.

Contact me in private (https://info.woolyss.com/) if you prefer.

update

lost all settings after setting default browser

Hi, CrazyMax. thanks for your effort! But I encountered a problem.
I set the ungoogled chromium-portable as my default browser in chrome://settings/defaultBrowser , but when I open a url link in Word ,a new ungoogled chromium browser seems to be opened , in which all settings are reset and all extensions are lost .
and , by enter chrome://version/ in the new browser , the info says, user data files path is C:\Users\admin\AppData\Local\Chromium\User Data\Default . obviously it says this new browser is'nt portable .

and by opening ungoogled-chromium-portable.exe , all extensions are there and chrome://version/ page says it exactly is portable because user data files path is ./data/default .
and the new browser seems from ./app/chrome.exe

why these two .exe produce different configuration?
is there any way to set the ungoogled-chromium-portable.exe as default browser rather than ./app/chrome.exe ?

similar problem also occurs in brave-portable.exe.

so ,how can I solve this?
This problem has confused me a fews days, by contrast , the Cent Browser portable edition

, in which only exists one .exe, and does not have this problem.

the same issue also was posted to ungoogled chromium official github since I confused this two websites , and got a earnest reply though didn't solve the problem.

Spelling not working?

I don't knows if this is an issue or a feature of ungoogled-chromium but it seems that the spelling, being enabled in the settings (both for Italian and English), is not working. The wrong typed word aren't red underlined, they appear as if they were correct typed.

I tested this in a clean installation of your package: just unpack the `.7z' archive in e folder, start the ungoogled-C portable, choose DuckDuckGo search engine and type some wrong word, change the language (Italian <--> English): the typed words appear always as if they were right.

Chromium (not ungoogled and not portable) from here works as expected.

Attached two screenshots, one with ungoogled-chromium portable from PortApps and one from Chromiun (NOT ungoogle, not portable) from Woolyss.

Sample config yaml file always created

Hello, why ungoogled-chromium-portable.sample.yml is created every time i opened ungoogled-chromium-portable.exe and not just at first run?

Or to check if ungoogled-chromium-portable.yml exist and if not then to create the sample one...
