I guess this is just a rant.

DataDog Events is like CloudTrail, but categorically worse in every way. It doesn't show you events, just certain types of events? And searching events is broken as all hell, and you're really better off just converting CloudTrail to logs and using DataDog logs.

It's just... so bad it makes me cry.

This one is fading, so let's try to get it written down:

At work some folks are using K6 to to load tests on our app. They hit a "too many files open" problem.

I tried to edit ulimits in the usual ways, but that didn't work.

Then I realized systemd has it's own limits, thanks for re-inventing the wheel again.

We never fixed the issue, just worked around it. I should really try to solve the issue...

A short off-week post about using some Python built-ins to detect tests and automatically run them. Piggy-backs on a hack used at a previous job to find and run certain functions automagically.

I've started using Joplin with an S3 backend. It's a pretty good Open Source alternative to Apple Notes with a native app instead of a web-client -- which I am a big fan of.

Let's go over how I setup the S3 bucket (well, DigitalOcean Spaces if we want to be pedantic) and the app.

Should be a short off-week post.
