Business Cycles and How to Tame Them: Source Files

This repository contains the source files of the minicourse "Business Cycles and How to Tame Them" developed by Pascal Michaillat and taught at the Reserve Bank of India and Bank of Italy.

Lecture slides

The source files to the lecture slides are placed in the lectureslides folder. The lecture slides are written in LaTeX, and then compiled to PDF with pdfTeX. The lecture slides are organized in four slide decks for four two-hour lectures:

  • slides1.tex, slides1.pdf – Accounting for Business Cycles
  • slides2.tex, slides2.pdf – Slackish Business-Cycle Model: Static Version
  • slides3.tex, slides3.pdf – Slackish Business-Cycle Model: Dynamic Version
  • slides4.tex, slides4.pdf – Taming Business Cycles with Monetary and Fiscal Policy

The lectureslides folder also contains the LaTeX style files used to format the lecture slides:

Figures

The source files to the figures inserted in the lecture slides are placed in the figures folder. The figures are produced with Keynote, and then exported to PDF. The figures are organized as follows:

  • figure1.key, figure1.pdf – Regular figures inserted in slides1.tex (4:3 format)
  • widefigure1.key, widefigure1.pdf – Wide figures inserted in slides1.tex (16:9 format)
  • figure2.key, figure2.pdf – Regular figures inserted in slides2.tex (4:3 format)
  • widefigure2.key, widefigure2.pdf – Wide figures inserted in slides2.tex (16:9 format)
  • figure3.key, figure3.pdf – Regular figures in slides3.tex (4:3 format)
  • widefigure3.key, widefigure3.pdf – Wide figures inserted in slides3.tex (16:9 format)
  • figure4.key, figure4.pdf – Figures inserted in slides4.tex (4:3 format)
