The js-Unicode-Selector is an HTML app that uses jQuery, jQuery UI the UI plugin jQuery-SelectBox and HTML5's localStorage to make it easy to use. It is hosted on GitHub, and the source code can be found on the gh-pages branch.

Future Improvements

What about a round selector for the symbol as on http://interface.eyecon.ro/demos/drag_vr.html?
Most displayed chars (possibly moving around...)
Last displayed chars
The hex value should become an input field (so that you can enter Unicode chars by Unicode number).
Implement 'Search' for the characters
Directly start the AJAX character name loading when you did click, not drag, on a certain slider position.
