econopy's Introduction

economics --- Classical economics in Python

This module contains an implementation of some of the basic concepts of classical economics. It has been inspired by the great Coursera class Principles of Economics for Scientists, taught by Caltech's Prof. Antonio Rangel. It uses SymPy (http://sympy.org/en/index.html) to do symbolic math operations.

I have tried to make the implementation clear rather than efficient, intended to describe the concepts in an intelligible way. Code is a way to write down economic ideas that is both functional and precise, and I believe it gives another dimension to the mathematical description of the concepts. It is also naturally suited to explore them, focusing on the concepts rather than the mechanics of algebra and calculus.
