A sample project to read & write files in XML. This project can extended to support other file formats like csv, json etc.

• To read a xml file:

final String file = <file_to_read>;
final String fileFormat = "xml";
final Parser xmlParser = ParserFactory.getParser(fileFormat);

final List<Object_Type_To_Read> xmlElements = xmlParser.parse(file, <Object_Type_To_Read>);

• To write a xml file:

final String file = <file_to_write>;
final String fileFormat = "xml";
final Writer writer = WriterFactory.getWriter(fileFormat);

writer.write(<Object_To_Write>, <Object_Type_To_Write>, file, <root_element_name>);

Refer to the Application class for example usage.

• Build the jar using: mvn clean install

• Run the jar as follows:

  • Usage:

   java -cp target\file-utils-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar com.piyush.org.consumer.Application "<xml_file_location>" "<file_format>"

  • Example:

  java -cp target\file-utils-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar com.piyush.org.consumer.Application "C:\temp\employees.xml" "xml"
