gothic-devkit's Introduction

GOTHIC Development Kit 1.3

ENGLISH

PhoenixTales' update of the official GOTHIC Mod Development Kit, to be used for non-commercial modifications. Version 1.0 was released by Piranha Bytes in 2001. See our Changelog for details.

How to extract textures from your local installation of GOTHIC

Meshes, scripts and some of the worlds were already included in decompiled form in the official gothic_mod_developmentkit.zip (v1.0).
Some world files are not part of the official release, and were extracted by us from GOTHIC using GothicVDFS. Animations are decompiled from GOTHIC using the Gothic Sourcer 3.14. Textures are not included and have to be extracted from your local copy of the game:

  1. Start gothic-devkit\tools\GothicVDFS\GothicVDFS.exe
  2. Select Filename: Program Files\Gothic\Data\textures.vdf
  3. Select Root Path: gothic-devkit\gothic
  4. Click Extract Volume
  5. Copy content of gothic-devkit\tools\GothicZTEX to gothic-devkit\gothic\_work\data\TEXTURES
  6. Start gothic-devkit\gothic\_work\data\TEXTURES\GothicZTEX.exe
  7. Now you have all textures in decompiled form (.tga)

Terms of use

The use of the MOD PLAYER-KIT and the use of the MOD DEVELOPMENT-KIT is exclusively allowed for non-commercial purposes.
All tools and assets included in the PLAYER-KIT and the DEVELOPMENT-KIT, as well as all assets created, respectively modified by it, must not be used commercial.

These files can serve as a base for making modifications to GOTHIC. They should not be copied to any mod project nor included in a mod package, unless modifications to them are (to be) made.

DEUTSCH
