hydrand's Issues

About the throughput?

hi, sir! could you tell me about how to test throughout of HydRand? using some tools like ab, iperf or something else?

how to run a test in local(win 10 or ubuntu?)

hello,i am a student of university. My research orientation is information security and blockchain. I am very interesting in what you have proposed——hydrand, but pooring in programming limited me to make the next step——applying and extending your result.would you mind writing down how to make a local test specially?thank you very much!!(it doesn't matter if you were unwilling. )

How to use Hydrand gracefully?

Hi, Sir. In the progress of applying your achievement, I think I break the continuity, I am here to turn to you for how to use Hydrand gracefully. Recently, I am trying to apply 'Hydrand' to my paper, but I met some troubles. I have solved some of them. But when I finished one problem , the other one will appear accordingly. I have stagnated here for one week. My code framework as the following.

At the beginning, in the round 1, everything is all right. But in the round >1, "dealta <0", start time < actual time, I fix this problem by giving a difference of time. After I fix this problem , the beacons' problem arose following. After I fix beacons' problem, certificate_available is not available.Even I fix all the problem above, a series of problem will appear whatever. The reason why problems appear is that I can't find a grace way to use "Hydrand". And I break the continuity of Hydrand.

But in this way , it didn't work in the second round.

Thought in the "test_node.py" we test in a multithreading way, it's very strict for timeliness in Hydrand. In my experiment, HydRand is regarded as a black box for providing randomness, so i hope it can run one round when i call it.

It's very kind if you have any advices about my problem.

Thanks for your reading and your contribution.

4 faults appear in “pytest” locally?

Dear Dr.Schindler,
Recently, i studied some knowledge about your paper and "RoundHound and RandHerd".The method last time you update in README, i have tried, and that is all right. But 4 faults appeared when i try “pytest”,maybe some setting i missing during test duration. Here is the photo. I don't know if the faults are set to simulate or not? Here is pictures i catch:

PVSS,Scalar datatype?

Dear sir,
I notice that no matter what "keypair" or "secret" in HydRand, all of them is Scalar data type.Is there any way to use my own data? For example, i want to share a string message "hello, world!". How to transfer str to Scalar, and after recover , the secret is still a Scalar type value. How to transfer Scalar to a str?

I have tried the method "deterministic_random_scalar(purpose: Optional[str] = None, counter: Optional[int] = None)" in hydrand/utils.py , i think this is the way to Scalar, but i can't find a way back to string.
