UNH-RVAT turbinesFoam case files

DOI

These case files simulate the UNH-RVAT using OpenFOAM's pimpleFoam solver and the turbinesFoam actuator line model. Note this is a work-in-progress and may not be fully functional since the turbinesFoam API is presently unstable.

Twin Rotor Case

Hello, Firstly thank you for the amazing repository.
Is it possible to extend the existing UNH-RVAT case to a twin rotor case (not two turbines side by side), which means moving the center of rotor by some distance 1.2D using RAS? Is there any tutorials/cases available regarding twin rotors that i can refer to?

Thanks in Advance.

Verification

Probably should be done with Smagorinsky LES model and RANS, but start with RANS.

Crashing at TSR=0.9

Strangely this is happening around 0.4 seconds.

Ideas

  • Turn off flow curvature model
  • epsilon equal to the chord length
  • Try different foil data
  • Turn off dynamic stall
  • Switch schemes back to stable ones
  • Set time step back to 0.01 seconds
  • Remove cm values from foil data
  • Vary number of elements

Preserve initial fvOptions in paramsweep.tsr_sweep?

Insteady of using Git to checkout the latest version, we could read in the initial file and re-write this to reset. This would allow for experimentation with non-committed parameters. Then again, this will sort of hurt the "auto-documenting" nature of using a Git repo.
