Hey Alex,
FontAwesome is just for the icons -- correct. Take a look at https://github.com/pavben/WebIRC/blob/master/static/less/webirc.less
It has:
font-family: 'Varela Round', sans-serif;
You could change that on your local fork, and we may pick it up if it looks nice. I haven't structured it in a way that makes it easy to change the font without editing the .less file. Might be something for the future.
