Static type checking error

@pastorsj Hi Sam!

I'm trying to pull series data from FRED and I'm running into a static type checking error. I'm not able to transpile when I'm using the wrapper syntax.

This is the callback I'm using:

async (req: Request, res: Response): Promise<void> => {
  try {
    const series = await fred.series.getSeries('SP500');

    res.send(series);

  } catch (err) {
    res.send(err);
  }

And this is the error I'm getting:

src/app.ts:14:46 - error TS2345: Argument of type 'string' is not assignable to parameter of type 'number'.

14   const series = await fred.series.getSeries('SP500');

I checked the wrapper documentation, and the series_id query parameter for getting an economic data series says that it's of type string, so there seems to be a disconnect here.

Thanks for looking into this! Let me know if I can help clarify anything.

Version 10 of node.js has been released

Version 10 of Node.js (code name Dubnium) has been released! ๐ŸŽŠ

To see what happens to your code in Node.js 10, Greenkeeper has created a branch with the following changes:

  • Added the new Node.js version to your .travis.yml

If youโ€™re interested in upgrading this repo to Node.js 10, you can open a PR with these changes. Please note that this issue is just intended as a friendly reminder and the PR as a possible starting point for getting your code running on Node.js 10.

More information on this issue

Greenkeeper has checked the engines key in any package.json file, the .nvmrc file, and the .travis.yml file, if present.

  • engines was only updated if it defined a single version, not a range.
  • .nvmrc was updated to Node.js 10
  • .travis.yml was only changed if there was a root-level node_js that didnโ€™t already include Node.js 10, such as node or lts/*. In this case, the new version was appended to the list. We didnโ€™t touch job or matrix configurations because these tend to be quite specific and complex, and itโ€™s difficult to infer what the intentions were.

For many simpler .travis.yml configurations, this PR should suffice as-is, but depending on what youโ€™re doing it may require additional work or may not be applicable at all. Weโ€™re also aware that you may have good reasons to not update to Node.js 10, which is why this was sent as an issue and not a pull request. Feel free to delete it without comment, Iโ€™m a humble robot and wonโ€™t feel rejected ๐Ÿค–

`Observations` property on series data gives static type checking error

Hi @pastorsj!

I've pulled series data using the getObservationsForSeries method and I'm trying to use the filter method on data accessed via the observations property. A static type checking error is blocking me from transpiling.

The code I'm using is:

const series = await fred.series.getObservationsForSeries('SP500');

let data = series.observations.filter((obj: any) => {
  // test implementation
});

And the error I'm getting is:

src/app.ts:31:36 - error TS2339: Property 'filter' does not exist on type 'ObservationSet'.

31     let data = series.observations.filter((obj: any) => {
                                      ~~~~~~
I double checked the wrapper documentation, and it does says that the returned JSON's observations property has a value of an array of objects, so it's odd that I'm not able to use an array method.
Would appreciate it if you looked into this! Thanks in advance.
Throws a window error on loading
Hi @pastorjs,
This looks like a very useful library. However, I couldn't get it to work :)
I tried to use it on codesandbox and also here https://npm.runkit.com/node-fred. I get the following error. Did I miss something ? (import doesn't yet appear to work on node.js, so I used require.)
Thanks !
ReferenceError: window is not defined
Fix: Use global instead of window.
RunKit is a node environment, so window and other browser features wonโ€™t exist. If youโ€™re just trying to access the global object, you can simply use global instead.
Builders hatch onto previously built params
Hi, thanks for the library! It's a very pleasant read.
One issue I've run into, however. If I execute fred.series.getObservationsForSeries('SP500', { units: 'lin', frequency: 'm' }) and then fred.series.getObservationsForSeries('SP500', { units: 'lin' }) again, the latter call returns a monthly frequency, but the expected is the default frequency, daily.
Temporary fix is to always explicitly define frequency.
