Can someone talk to Julia about this ? Also after she does, we need to make sure that the code didn't break because a number of things are based on the data's column index, so a new column could possibly introduce bugs.

Since we were short on time during the hackathon, the app was built without too much structure/architecture. We should consider using a framework to make future maintenance and collaboration easier. We could go the PHP Symfony route, or Ruby on Rails. I'm open to other suggestions too.

This is probably because the host does not allow file_get_contents to be called on external urls. Replace this with a curl call and it should work.

When the only data point is the country selected the flow map should contain a single marker identifying the selected country.

The current approach uses the region-biased Google geocoding API which means certain countries, like Egypt, are geocoded in the US rather than geocoding to the country being queried.

Either the World Bank's API should be utilized. For example: http://api.worldbank.org/country/EG/?format=json

or the Google results should be parsed to select a result that contains the appropriate country name.

Replace the current nav bar and header, to be replaced with something more specific to our team.

Right now when a line on the map is selected it displays coordinates. Instead it should describe the flow of money and/or contracts.

It also might be nice to include country names as pop-ups on the markers.
