Hello Matthias

Thank you for the nice words :)

First, your suggestions are all valid, and it may take a while until I complete
all
these icons. I will do some of them with in my free time, and I cannot garantee
a
time limit.
Consider donating, as it will motivate me to do them quicker.

I saw your custom map, I like it, the icons look good on it.

Secondly, your question : You can link to the original pictures. I think I will
not
change anymore the size. I may change the design a little to make them better
but it
will not be radically different. I think it's the best option to link to my
original
pictures. The bandwidth used is google one.
In case you are scared of my modifications or problems, still, the zip files
containing all the icons are available for you to download.

You map is improving, and I saw your custom icons. Some of them are well
designed !

I like the Molino, the Castillo, the fountains, the catedral, the bridge.

Thank you, glad you like them! Let me know if you want some for your project.
They
are all based on your template anyway. Have an .PSD-file (made in Paint.Net)
that I
can e-mail you.

If I use some of your design, I can credit your work with your name and an URL
: but
what name and URL do you want ?

OK, that sounds fair. My name is Matthias Stasiak, in Swedish, half German and
I live
in Barcelona, Spain. My URL is www.myBCN.es I'll do some more icons in my
area,
tourism, later, second half of August. Still need:

- More Museum types (ex. National, Person, Naval, War etc.)
- A better Monument and a new Statue
- Architecturally interesting buildings (by century or style)
- Shopping Center and Market
- Palace
- Government/Official buildings

and more... But since this is not what I really do I cannot give any
guarantees it
will happen even then. :-)

Hope you don't mind. Be aware, your designs are packed with mine, under Gnu GPL
v3
licensed. Alright ?

Hi Matthias and Nico,

I love the work you are doing. I would like to link to some of the other icons
Matthias made that have not yet been included in the set that is available on
http://code.google.com/p/google-maps-icons/. For example the monuments icon. Is
there some way to do that?

And one thing I have been looking for all over the internet is a decent icon
for a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. Do you know if that is available?

Best regards,

Willem Nabuurs

Hello Willem,
Thanks :)

You are right with the monument. I imported one icon from Matthias but I am not
sure
if it's the one you were talking about :
http://google-maps-icons.googlecode.com/files/monument.png
Let me know :)

For the UNESCO icon. It is an icon for the logo like a tree in :
http://whc.unesco.org/graphics/banner/fr/451-2.jpg
or the one with "unesco" writen into a monument ?

Regards

Nico - Thanks for including my monument symbol, think it can be made better
though.
I'm happy with the idea but the graphics in the symbol can be made better with
some
semi transparent pixels to get the roundness and depth of it. And for me this
is the
"Historic" monument symbol, the better Monument and a new Statue one is still
missing
as mentioned earlier.

The one with the "tree" is the symbol for the World Heritage Sites, the other
is the
UNESCO logo. If you're not already on it I'll make one this evening. I need one
as
well and it's very simple.

Nico & Willem,

Here you go. Hope it's OK. I decided to skip the outer text circle in the
original
icon since it's so small and I kept the white inside to make it look as much as
possible as the original. If you want the green or any other background color,
you
just open the .PSD-file and change it as you see fit. The same goes if you
don't want
the white. Open the .PSD and change the Layer Properties and change the Mode to
Multiply or darken.

Enjoy!

Hi Matthias,

I love it. Really nice. I'll keep tracking this site frequently, because this
seems
to be a fountain of creativity :-)

What kind of icon would you guys use for a square? The fountain icon?

And what about a lighthouse? The tower that Matthias designed is not really
great
for that one.

Willem

Hi, Nico. Good work, that is of cause how the icon should look. For some
reason I
got the idea/impression that the original icon was white on the inside which of
cause
isn't... :-)
