android-sdk-demo-google-maps-android-conversion's Introduction

Converting from Google to OS Maps

A demo app using the openspace-android-SDK as a drop in replacement for the Google Maps Android SDK.

Getting started

Registration and Access

In order to access and use the Service via the OpenSpace Android-SDK, you must apply for an API key. You must use the package name as specified in the AndroidManifest.xml file for your project.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
    package="uk.co.ordnancesurvey.android.demos.gmapsconversion"
    android:versionCode="1"
    android:versionName="1.0" >

Replace

import com.google.android.gms.maps.GoogleMap;
import com.google.android.gms.maps.SupportMapFragment;

with

import uk.co.ordnancesurvey.android.maps.OSMap;
import uk.co.ordnancesurvey.android.maps.SupportMapFragment;

It is also necessary to include the following import, which allows you to specify the data source:

import uk.co.ordnancesurvey.android.maps.OSTileSource;
...
ArrayList<OSTileSource> sources = new ArrayList<OSTileSource>();
sources.addAll(mMap.localTileSourcesInDirectory(this,
Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory()));
sources.add(mMap.webTileSource("E956736CF5B25963E0430C6CA40A215D", FREE_KEY, null));
mMap.setTileSources(sources);

Run test project

Copy the project to your local machine and run the project using gradle:

git clone https://github.com/OrdnanceSurvey/android-sdk-demo-mapkit-conversion.git
gradlew installTest

To open in android studio, import the top level build.gradle file.
