Sure, that reproduces the issue:
def test_gridsampler_ask_tell():
def objective(trial):
x = trial.suggest_float("x", 0, 10)
return x ** 2
search_space = dict(x=[1, 2])
study = optuna.study.create_study(sampler=optuna.samplers.GridSampler(search_space))
for i in range(2):

Thanks. I think this is intended behaviour according to #4121 (comment), so this is not a bug. The docs should clarify this workaround or grid-search doesn't to assume ask-and-tell interface.
