openscenarios's Introduction

OpenRCT2-OpenScenarios

Project discussion takes place on Discord.

  • Invitation link: https://discord.gg/uNzSmAj
  • Replacement Scenarios and Campaign for the Scenarios that came with RCT2 Originally. The goal is to create a campaign of +/- 30 scenarios with a good difficulty curve like in RCT1.

Contribution and Approval process is not yet complete, but feel free to open PR's with Scenarios.

Open scenarios outline

REQUIREMENTS TO SUBMIT A SCENARIO:

  1. Must include the Finished Scenario
  2. Must include a Save of the Scenario at the last step of Scenario Creation
  3. Must inlude a text file containing the Goal of the Scenario - IE X guests by Y date.
  4. Should include a Screenshot
  5. Should include a Description of the Scenario, and mention what difficulty category it is
  6. Should have at least 1 person that is not the scenario creator play test it and verify that the scenario has no major issues, and that the difficulty is set correctly.

SCENARIO DESIGN GUIDELINES:

  • The scenario must be able to be completed in a convenient way. This means without using cheats or massively exploiting game mechanics (like microcoasters).
  • Using cheats to create the scenario is acceptable as long as the park is reproducible without cheats, thus no usage of zero clearance or tile inspector for example.
  • Also no rides outside park boundaries, trackitecture or hacked rides.
  • Only use objects (rides, scenery, paths, terrain ...) labeled with RCT2 or OpenRCT2 Official, so no RCT1-exclusive or custom objects, or from the expansions (WW/TT).

HOW TO CONTRIBUTE:

If you know how, make a PR with the files in the correct locations. If not, then please make an issue, with all the requested files in a Zip file, and upload them as part of the issue. In both scenarios, there will be additional verification of the park to ensure that it works well.

Thanks for taking the time to Contribute!

Please Note: There are exceptions for Parks that existed before this project existed, and the original source files have been lost. In all such cases, the original owner has given permission for them to be used. IF YOUR PARK HAS BEEN USED WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION, PLEASE CONTACT ME, THIS WAS NOT ON PURPOSE.

openscenarios's Issues

Power Park appears twice in list

There are 2 scenarios with the same name “Power Park”. One is a giant park with tons of attractions while the other one is a sandbox scenario. This creates ambiguity.

I suggest to rename one of the scenarios/parks to disambiguate them.

No expert parks?

Currently, no scenario is classified as Expert level. There is only Beginner and Intermediate and Other. Is this intended? Or are the expert parks still WIP?

I'm asking because I wonder if the lack of expert parks might be an oversight.

Typos

Some scenarios have typos:

Frosty Frolics

Original with typos:

In this coaster challenge your are not allowed to remove any trees and can't build anything above tree height. To help you along, one coaster has already been build.

Correction:

In this coaster challenge, you are not allowed to remove any trees and can't build anything above tree height. To help you along, one coaster has already been built.

Future Funzone

Original with typo:

In this space themed park you must finish building the five existing coasters. Your guests also prefer high intensity rides.

Correction

In this space-themed park you must finish building the five existing coasters. Your guests also prefer high intensity rides.

Remove “Made by maian_sos” from goal description

Many scenarios goal descriptions have “Made by maian_sos” at the end.
IMHO the scenario text is not the place to write credits. The credits are. It's actually unusual that the scenario author is written in the description, most scenarios don't do this.

Just to be clear: I don't want to downplay anyone's contribution to the project. Obviously, authors shall be credited. But I think the credits are better stored somewhere else.

The scenario description is meant to be short and succinct, and I find this additional text to be distracting.
