openmediavault-omvextrasorg's Issues

[Cockpit] Store Metrics doesn't work on RPI 4 with raspbian buster

Hi,

I setup OMV 5 and install the update with the OMV-Extra.
However, after I downloaded the cockpit and enabled the store metric, it didn't seem to work.
I raised an issue with Cockpit and they said the version 188 we have here is pretty old and maybe newer version won't have the store metric issue.
Refer: cockpit-project/cockpit#13455

Just wondering if there is going to be support or install for newer versions for Cockpit.
Let me know if I could help getting newer version on board.

Thanks a lot!

Port Configuration for Portainer

I already have running a deamon on port 9000 since OMV3. This service is used by some external clients. Now I couldn't start Portainer. But I also couldn't change the port of the other service.
So could you add a way to config the binded ports of Portainer via GUI?

/binary-armel/packages nearly empty

Hi there,
the stretch /binary-armel/packages, packages.gz.... are missing all plugins, only
Package: openmediavault-omvextrasorg
Version: 4.0.0
Architecture: all...
is inside.
omvextras-common is not upgrading to 4.01, omv-backup is not updating and so on.and so on......
Can you fix this, please.

Suggestion to use --no-color in salt stack

I previously opened an issue in OMV's fail2ban-repo (link) reporting unexpected characters in the log. If I concluded correctly it should be possible to prevent these colour-characters from occuring in log-files by calling salt with --no-color option as votdev did here

Screenshot from today's apt-get upgrade:
grafik

openmediavault/release-upgrade (5.x) scripts are not set executable

The following file are not set executable after an install of omvextrasog meaning during an upgrade the run-parts script ignore the files as there not exacuatable:

/usr/share/openmediavault/release-upgrade/post.d/60-omvextras-mergerfs
/usr/share/openmediavault/release-upgrade/pre.d/20-omvextras-sources-list

Think the error must be in the build stage somewhere are they are set executable in the 5.x repo.

To check that I not got a local issue I downloaded the deb (https://github.com/OpenMediaVault-Plugin-Developers/packages/raw/master/debian/pool/main/o/openmediavault-omvextrasorg/openmediavault-omvextrasorg_5.6.5_all.deb) and expanded it using dpkg-deb and the file are not executable in the package and there is not method to set them executable i can see.

This currently make my test system not correctly update omvextrasorg as the source list dose not get updated. However it a simple fix post upgrade.

support for armel debian

Please update your armel Packages:
https://dl.bintray.com/openmediavault-plugin-developers/arrakis/dists/stretch/main/binary-armel/Packeges
you can copy ist from armhf.
Most of your packages don't use binray packages and it will be ok.
Now i have download the packages from "pool" und try install with

dpkg -i

Question ?
you have debian source packages to install via apt source ?
regards Jörg

OMV3, openmediavault-zfs: Shared folders going n/a following ZFS pool export

There seems to be a general problem where ZFS pool export results in the resetting of Shared folders to n/a devices. Importation of the pool does not correct the n/a status of devices on Shared folders. SMB clients are affected by this.

There was a discussion about this general issue on this thread:
https://forum.openmediavault.org/index.php/Thread/20364-Shared-folders-going-N-A-for-device-corrupts-USB-Backup/?postID=158505#post158505

Please let me know if you require additional information.
Thanks.

armel package index missing the 'all' arch related packages

I'm using OVM 4 on an old QNAP TS-412. Adding the repo currently pulls no packages as the Package file on https://dl.bintray.com/openmediavault-plugin-developers/arrakis/dists/stretch/main/binary-armel/Packages contains only the openmediavault-omvextrasorg package. Some packages does not depend on a specific arch and could possibly used on armel platform.

Changing the line in sources.list from "deb https://dl.bintray.com/openmediavault-plugin-developers/arrakis stretch main" to "deb [armel,amd64] https://dl.bintray.com/openmediavault-plugin-developers/arrakis stretch main" allows me to install the platform independently packages. Of course in the GUI there are also listed packages like Virtualbox which will never be run on this arch. Using "apt-cache search openmediavault" listed the missing packages and also showed not the amd64 versions.

Apt-get update after repositories are changed.

I'm not 100% sure if this is bug or not.

Basiclly a user will do

  1. Enable repo
  2. Go to plugin page to install plugin

Apt-get update is missing between these steps?

I think that mkconf script should do "apt-get update" also.
Without that incorrect packages might be installed. In case of same package name in Debian repo and custom repo.

repository issue for armel architecture

I added the VPN repository from the the OMV-extras plugin (this plugin), plus a bunch of others.
Refreshed the index of plugins.
the command failed, looked at the full error and I saw a 404 for http://dh2k.omv-extras.org/debian/dists/kralizec-vpn/main/binary-armel/Packages

Looking it up by hand and backtracking to http://dh2k.omv-extras.org/debian/dists/kralizec-vpn/main/ , it seems you have only x86 plugins (32 and 64 bit).

A simple solution for repositories of archs you don't provide stuff for but aren't so uncommon (armel for sure, maybe adding mipsel and powerPC) would be making the folder structure and leaving it empty in the server.
That way the updater is happy because it does not get a 404 error, but you don't have to add code anywhere to check what is what.

EDIT: addendum, also the repo about "download managers testing repository " is affected by the same issue.

ARMHF: Docker-compose outdated

The docker-compose version installed by install-docker is version 1.21, however, version 1.26 is already available and uses docker-compose schemas > 3.3.

The installation lines show that curl is used for installing docker-compose, but the versions > 1.21 do not have an armhf package.

A post install workaround is to remove the docker compose installation and reinstall using pip3, which does contain the latest version.

sudo rm $(which docker-compose)
sudo apt-get install python3-pip
sudo pip3 install docker-compose
sudo reboot

Can't enable Extras repository

After enabling the Extras repository and pressing the save button, a "Saving..." message pops up and after several minutes results in an error: "connection error" or sometimes "An error occurred" with no further description. The switch in the GUI stays on, but no new plug-ins show up. The same happens when turning it back off.

In case it helps, I'm running OMV v5.6.16-1 installed via USB installer on a very low-spec PC. I've tried installing omvextras both via the CLI and uploading the .deb file.

Using ZFS with OMV 5

Hey, just started using OMV.
Install worked perfectly. Docker install just worked as well.

When i tried setting up ZFS i noticed that is very important to install the proxmox pve kernel first.

Following steps in this order finally worked for me:

  • wget -O - http://omv-extras.org/install | bash
  • System -> OMV-Extras -> Kernel -> Install Proxmox Kernel
  • System -> Plugins -> openmediavault-zfs 5.0.1 -> install

Not following this order messed up the apt sources and caused broken dependencies.
Maybe its useful for beginners to prevent install of "openmediavault-zfs" when proxmox kernel is not installed

Anyways, all is working as needed. :-) Thanks.

EDIT: In general it seems like installing 1 plugin at a time is a good idea

Error installing Sabnzbd

I found the origin of the problem. In the script /var/lib/dpkg/info/openmediavault-sabnzbd.postinst, the latest version of sabnzbd is found by downloading a file from sourceforge. The grep works fine but the sed don't isolate the right string of the version.

Stacks using the compose option 'build:' with local contexts fail to deploy

Hello,

The Compose file option build: allows to build the image to deploy by pointing to a custom build context (Dockerfile + external files to integrate into the image).

To do this, docker-compose sends the build context to Docker, which then builds the image. However, when using Portainer in a Docker container, the containerized docker-compose binary fails to retrieve the context because it doesn't have access to files outside the portainer container.
The solution I could imagine would be to add an advanced parameter in the OMV GUI that would add a --volume argument when starting Portainer to give it access to the user's build contexts.

I successfully made it work with the following patch:

--- /usr/sbin/omv-installdocker.orig 2021-04-11 17:55:23.486110592 +0000

It then becomes possible to use the following compose file option for example:

Latest OMV 5 fresh install does not allow omvextras install

Hello,
i installed a fresh OMV 5 with the latest version.
When i tried to install omvextras the installer bailed out with unsatisfied requirement for gnupg.
gnupg seems currently uninstallable and is not necessary for dirmngr install.
So i modified the package and removed the requirement for gnupg and rebuild it.
Now the package is installable and i can't find any problems so far.

Feature - please allow securing Portainer UI with TLS

copied from openmediavault/openmediavault#622

It would be really helpful to have a possibility to enables SSL via OMV web UI too as probably most people do not want to go down into the inner depths of the system an use the UI wherever possible. Here it would really help to have a secure system by default (or with one-two extra clicks).

Description of issue/question

Currently its possible to use OMV5 to run docker containers (very helpful!). As an UI "portainer" is used, but current one-click deployment via OMV web UI does not use TLS to encrypt communication with browser. Please update the portainer installation to use TLS.

Steps to reproduce issue

activate OMV extras plugin, on the left click on Menu "OMV-Extras", then "Docker" -> "Portainer" -> "Install"
Portainer is installed but can only be used without TLS encryption. Updating docker deployment afterwards to enable TLS is not working.

Steps to do to enable encryption

As i understand the following steps are needed to use SSL/TLS encryption for the web-ui in portainer.

  • Update "OMV-Extras" -> "Docker" web ui, add checkbock "Enable TLS" and dropdown list with all SSL certificates configured within OMV
  • Update button to open portainer from OMV web UI to either use HTTP or HTTPS depending on the "Enable TLS" checkbox
  • Modify Portainer installation call
    a) bind mount the choosen certificate (key and cert file) into docker container
    b) add command line parameters needed to the docker CMD option to enable ssl (--ssl --sslcert /tmp/ssl/cert.pem --sslkey /tmp/ssl/cert.key) - see portainer documentation at https://portainer.readthedocs.io/en/stable/deployment.html#secure-portainer-using-ssl

Depending on how portainer is installed the following changes are needed on portainer installation:
Example with "docker run" command (docker compose file is similiar). For this example i assume the file name of the certificate choosen is "openmediavault-123"

docker run -v /etc/ssl/private/openmediavault-123.key:/tmp/ssl/cert.key -v /etc/ssl/certs/openmediavault-123.crt:/tmp/ssl/cert.pem <all other params> /portainer --ssl --sslcert /tmp/ssl/cert.pem --sslkey /tmp/ssl/cert.key

Looking at the postinst script it seems it wants to set the same root ssh keys on all installs ?!!
Shouldn't it create special keys like "omvextras_id_rsa" and shouldn't these be stored elsewhere than in "/root/.ssh/", like "/etc/openmediavault" or "/home/openmediavault/.ssh/" or may be even better "/etc/omvextras/" ?

Supportinfo log upload should be able to use a specified keys and not the root's ones.

[Feature request]

Hi,
first of all many thanks for your efforts to create Plugins to customize OMV in many ways !

However, I would like to see a "Nextcloud" plugin, since i am enthusiastic project member and user of Nextcloud, since the beginning! As soon as the plugin will be made available, I am going to implement OMV onto my new server infrastructure will distribute it to all my customers !

Best regards, hitam4450

[Feature] Add option to run Portainer with dark theme

Hi,
it would be possible to have the option to start Portainer with a Dark theme? I would consider to add it in the advanced settings maybe.

There is a github with multiple skins:
https://docs.theme-park.dev/themes/portainer/
I don't think it's worth the effort to let users choose between multiple skins, I would be happy just with the dark one.
From the documentation ( https://docs.theme-park.dev/setup/ ) you just need add these two envrimoment variable:
DOCKER_MODS=ghcr.io/gilbn/theme.park:portainer
TP_THEME=dark

Portainer is basically the only thing that is still white :(

Couple of issues with Symlinks plugin

Testing the symlink plugin on a virtual machine and ran into a couple problems. While trying to add a symlink... When I click the button to add a source or destination, I get the following error...

'500 - Internal Server Error Failed to execute XPath query '//system/fstab/mntent[uuid=79684322-3eac-11ea-a974-63a080abab18']

Not sure where that UUID is coming from as not it's even referenced on my system.

If I type the paths in the plugin manually, it works fine.

Issue #2 (maybe this should be a separate post?) If (for example) I enter one of the paths wrong, and try to edit... I get the black screen/red message stating "Software Error: Left Mouse to Continue. The requested page was not found".. which then just takes me back to the webUI. I can delete the symlink and just recreate it (so long as I manually type it given the other issue) and it works just fine.

Both issues happen on Firefox and Chrome.

Let me know if you need anything else to troubleshoot.

Opt-out of data collection by portainer

Portainer mentions in the about page, that they collect data on the user:

We at Portainer provide our software free and open source. To understand where best to spend our very limited development budget, we use rudimentary analytics.

## Opt-out

You may opt-out by passing the --no-analytics flag as part of the docker run command when starting Portainer.
If you believe that we could improve our analytics approach make sure to let us know! There is an open discussion on Github.

The proposal here is to make use of the phrase: You may opt-out by passing the --no-analytics flag as part of the docker run command when starting Portainer. as a default.

GPG key error

The bug occured when you are behind a proxy or a restrictive firewall, the
apt-key adv --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 6BF18B15 command don't work.
It must be set to apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net:80 --recv-keys 6BF18B15 to force http usage and go through the firewall.

"No function provided" in pkg.refresh_db

newbie in openmediavault here.

I just fresh installed OMV on my new proxmox system. No legacy stuff whatsoever.

However, when I tried to install omvextra, I got the following error when I execute the following:

Any pointers on how to resolve this and/or give me a pointer on providing more useful information so people here can help me to resolve this bug?

[Feature] : Allow selection of Portainer-CE or Portainer-EE

Portainer are now giving away free 5 node licences, for Portainer-EE (https://www.portainer.io/pricing/take5?utm_campaign=Five%20Nodes%20Free&utm_source=MOTD) - which adds a few nice features.

Switching image is detailed here (https://docs.portainer.io/v/ce-2.9/start/upgrade/tobe/docker) but then negates the handy "install Portainer" option from the OMV GUI.

Thought it may be handy to have a tickbox/drop down for which to install, so either could be maintained via one GUI rather than CLI :)

But still, omvextra install fails.

No function provided - OMV6

Hi,

This is the same issue reported previously in #55, but it seems it's back with OMV6 (shaitan) and the latest omvextras build grabbed via wget. I've followed the previous advice and updated everything, but still fails at the last step to do refresh_database_apt.

System is a new install on bare metal and fully upgraded. No issues with apt update and no updates available on any repo.

I may be doing something stupid.

Thanks for the help.
