! Important Notice !

This application is unmaintained and significantly outdated.

Refer to the http://opal.openhealthcare.org.uk documentation for current information about Opal

This was a hack day project. Its no longer supported.

This is a Renal patient management application built using the OPAL framework.

What problem does this solve?

Renal ward handover is a prime example of healthcare professions working in isolation; doctors, nurses and dialysis staff all have their own separate handover, creating lists using Microsoft word and distributing print-outs to their colleagues, often needlessly replicating, with a lack of transparency and inter-professional communication decreasing the speed that good clinical decisions can be made and thus impacting patient care. Our innovation is simple; making sure the entire team is on the same page, literally and metaphorically; an electronic handover form where all three groups can input information and see all, helping them speed up decisions and giving a much more holistic overview of the patient to aid these decisions.

opal-renal's Issues

Re-admissions

The essential data that we need to bring across between admissions is; Demographics, PMH and RRT

When I try discharging and re-admitting it doesn't pull the PMH from the previous admission.

It would also be useful to pull data for the RRT into new admissions too.

Cheers
James

New Lists

We would like to create a list of possible options for the haemodialysis sites. How do we make one?

Additionally we would like to expand the resuscitation options to include a few more options, how do we do this? The options would be, DNAR + NIV, + ITU, +Ward-based, + no IVs

Discharged Patients

All patients who are discharged should go onto the discharged list, not only those who have outstanding follow up requirements.

Can we fix this?

Cheers
James

Readmissions importing all columns

Firstly and most importantly when we were trying to demonstrate how the system remembers previous patients by "re admitting" someone for the second time it repopulated every column with the previous hospital episode. It really needs to know that after someone has been discharged and they are added again this should be a new episode and only populate the demographics, past medical history and renal replacement therapy -

Note: We think this may be due to the lack of a custom discharge controller - there is always an open team.

Bleep List

Anyone referred to our department would be added to this list and if admitted would need to be duplicated to the relevant all, team a/b and nursing list.
They would need to remain on the bleep list as well so we can track how many referrals we are getting each day.
