opendrr's Introduction

(Français)

Parent repository for the Open Disaster Risk Reduction Platform

The OpenDRR platform is middleware between hazard or risk modeling environments like OpenQuake and end users who need to understand and evaluate risk to make economic and policy decisions. The end-user interface, launched as RiskProfiler, operates as a web application using standard web browsers in desktop, tablet or hand-held device environments.

Development and execution of hazard and risk assessment models is a separate concern, outside of the OpenDRR system. OpenDRR will receive output from these models as input, using one or more interfaces and interchange formats based on existing standards or on specifications developed by the implementation team if no standards meet requirements.

opendrr's Issues

User Story: Template

As a [user, analyst, planner, system administrator, etc.]
I would like to [have x, do x, see x, etc.]
So that I can [have x, do x, see x, etc]

Example:

"As a system admin I would like to be notified when changes are made to the database schema so that I can ensure that the integrity of the database is maintained."

User Story: Platform Interoperability

User Story: INSPIRE building theme

As an external agency I would like to see the OpenDRR be compliant with the INSPIRE building theme specification so that it can interoperate with existing systems.

User Story: Risk Profile Indicators

As a decision maker, I would like to access integrated geo-information so that I can make sound decisions prior to and during an emergency.

Description
The integration of geo-information to help decision-making prior to and during an emergency is fundamental for the OpenDRR platform. The enabler for this integration is an ontology for disaster risk reduction in Canada that harmonizes existing vocabularies for hazard and risk (SENDAI, INSPIRE, GEM) and includes new concepts where needed to support semantic interoperability and natural language reasoning (see diagram below).

User Story: OpenQuake GIS Analyst

As a GIS analyst I need to have an automated way to process and compile OpenQuake outputs from csv format to a PostGreSQL database so that we can eliminate the manually intensive processes of merging data.

SOP recipe for events

As a project participant, I would like internal processes which are required to respond and adapt to external events documented so that I can ensure that publication workflows, policies, and requirements are adhered to.

Examples of events that would require a SOP:

  • openquake engine changes outputs
  • metadata is updated
  • datasets are added

User Story: INSPIRE Data Specification on Natural Risk Zones

As an external agency I would like to see the OpenDRR database schema to be compliant with the INSPIRE data specification so that it can interoperate with existing systems.
