cachesimulator's Introduction

To compile:
make all


To clean:
make clean


To run:
Go to the directory containing the binaries 'tracegenerator' and 'simulator'

./tracegenerator -t<Total Instructions>
                 -s<Mean Sequential Length>
                 -l<Mean Loop Length>
                 -r<Mean Loop Repetitions>
                 -d<Percentage of Data Instructions>
                 -w<Percentage of Write Instructions>

This will generate the input trace.

./simulator -c<capacity>
            -b<blocksize>
            -a<associativity>
            -r<replacement policy>
            -v<verbose>
            INPUT_TRACE

All options except the INPUT_TRACE have default values, so they are optional.
The default values are capacity = 8k, blocksize = 16bytes, associativity = 4, replacement policy = LRU & verbose disabled.


To display the graphs of Miss Rates vs Time:
$ gnuplot
gnuplot> load "MissRatePlotScript"


To display the graphs of Miss Rates vs Time:
$ gnuplot
gnuplot> load "OccupancyPlotScript"
