Can you share your config please?

I use Iterm2 and I believe my terminal setting is alright.

I actually found the problem that the transparency do applied, but for some reason it's kinda hard to see it under the nvim environment compare to the original terminal window. LOL

Obviously cursorline sucks as I haven't changed it.
What about if you run :hi Normal
. I just see Normal xxx guifg=#abb2bf
.
Whereas with transparency off, I see Normal xxx guifg=#abb2bf guibg=#282c34
.
Maybe another plugin is setting the Normal
color.

Something is setting your background colour after the theme loads. Search your config for highlights and see what's causing it. The transparency option sets guibg to be NONE
