fates's Issues

No license

Hello.
I have designed a new PCB since yours seems to be unavailable.
I would like to use this installation script as a reference on my hardware, could you apply some kind of license?
thanks.

Where can I get a PCB?

I can't seem to find any PCBs for sale anywhere. Is there a list of where to buy it?

Also, is the design files for the PCB available?
Just thinking that if it's not available for ordering, maybe it would be possible for me to manufacture a PCB myself through one of the online PCB manufacturers?

Need help implementing the same solution for power for a different board

Hi,
I am currently working on a similar board as your's but for another project (zynthian) and wanted to know if you have any schematic and/or the footprint/3d model for the usb c plug (KUSBX-SL-CS1N14-B) and how you connected it to the pi

thanks in advance, also interested into the dac/adc schematic but i understand that you wouldn't want to share that one

Unable to download the prebuilt images

The pre-built image for the rpi 3 does not finish downloading, and downloads at a very low rate, I'm wondering if maybe you could provide an alternative download method.

WiFi not connecting

I've tried with two different RPis 3B+ and one RPi 4 โ€“ the WiFi isn't connecting to my network. The Hotspot is also not starting.

It does see the available networks but when adding one, nothing happens after entering the password. The green LED flashes for a few seconds and then nothing.

I also have a Norns Shield and it connects to the WiFi without any problems.

Any troubleshooting advice?

Update:
I've connected to the Pi via ethernet and tried expanding the disk. It gave me an error: "There was an error running option A1 Expand Filesystem". Flashed another SD-card but it's also giving this error.

It can't write any files on the SD-card either. That explains at least why the WiFi wasn't connecting: it cannot write the wpa_supplicant file.

Update 2:
Fixed by doing the resizing manually via the command-line as per https://github.com/okyeron/fates/blob/master/install/norns/Norns_disk_image_install.md#expand-filesystem
Closing this, hopefully it will help others.

Thanks you so much, @okyeron! I've built the Neotrellis grid and used your laser cutter designs, everything works great. Top notch work! ๐Ÿ™‡

fates does not power up after firmware update

I recently got a fully functional fates norns that had old firmware (2019). the first thing I did when i received it was removed the sdhc card and upload the latest norns firmware (dec '22) to the sdhc card with etcher. the file image transfer was successful. I then inserted the card and plugged fates into a power source. I first used the usb output of a power strip, my macbook pro, a macbook air power adapter, and an ipad power adapter. none of these have powered up the fates. in each instance, a red led on the front of the fates lights up and the green led blinks four times consecutively or flashes erratically, while the red led is constant.

I have searched lines for a solution to no avail. I have read through the norns documents and troubleshooting on monome.org. I am unsure how to proceed. Any resources you can send or ideas about what i did wrong, or have not done yet, would be much appreciated.

My ideas were to 1. purchase the suggested power adapter for norns from adafruit, 2. get a new sdhc card and upload the firmware using the raspberry pi imager instead of etcher, and 3, if i have damaged the unit by using a power adapter that sent too much voltage, have it repaired and purchase the necessary parts to do so. I felt it necessary to ask the developer before potentially causing additional issues.

I did not power on the norns with the 2019 firmware or connect it to wifi and maiden before overwriting the 2019 firmware with the latest firmware.
