PS: by "returns always the same node.", I meant returns the same node as addressed by the

start_key

genNeighborKey does not take the key depth into account, it will only generate direct neighbors at lowest key level. You will be better off adding / subtracting the right amounts to the key yourself since the complete LUT classes are deprecated and unmaintained.

search should take the tree depth properly into account (e.g., search for pos (1,1,1) and (-1,-1,-1) at different depths and compare the keys / pointers). adjustKeyAtDepth ensures that the keys are corrected w.r.t. the current depth level and are not at the leaf level.
