Would like to see some test results on http://trafficserver.apache.org/ suggest impressive results.

Http-proxy has a problem with DNS lookups in Debian based (Ubuntu) and Fedora distros. Avg. latency overhead 200ms. Try instead Os X, CentOS or OpenSUSE, even Windows works well.

This is a very important metric I believe every sysadmin wants to know.

HAProxy 1.5 is now stable; it may be worth trying it out. And it means that Stud can vanish, so Nginx's operational advantage is gone.

Actually this a terrible idea in practice and should really not be used if you care about security AT ALL!

Therefore I'd suggest that testing with a realistic SSL Setup makes much more sense, as that is what people will/should have on their productive servers...

Curious to see the results for Tengine (NGINX based).

It's supposed to be a drop-in replacement:

I know the repo is a bit old, but people still refer to it as proof nginx or HAProxy are needed.
I'd still recommend them in perf critical situations, or expensive RAM hosts (ahem AWS).

However in my experience with http-proxy and newer versions of Node I could get 10k connections before the memory usage even went over 100mb.
With v8.7 (iirc) the memory stayed under 64mb! ... Though the graph was a bit 'turbulent'.
