Activating plugin causes timeout

Hi. The feature that was added in 1.4 (based on the changelog) seems to cause a timeout for WP installations of a nontrivial size (or with a lot of spambots); the wpll_activate function seems to go through all user accounts one by one to set a default value, which will quickly cause the PHP max execution time to be hit if it's more than (idk) a couple hundred accounts.

Isn't it possible to return 0 by default if retrieving the metadata fails? I'm not familiar at all with WP. I'll just disable that bit of code on my installation for now.
