Unclear wording re: Maven pom in coursework.asciidoc

In the coursework documentation it says the following:

For this project you must create a Maven build for your application.

However, later, the document says:

You should build on kitchensink example from the tutorial. You do not have time to create this application from scratch.

To me, the first statement says that the pom.xml should be created from scratch. On the other hand the second statement would seem to directly contradict this (infact - so far the coursework hasn't required any changes to the Maven lifecycle). Could we clarify this (for my sake if nothing else) and then I will submit a PR if needs be.
