I remember it is GFX issue. Windows 10 doesn't support standalone RFX. xrdp needs to implement GFX. The issue occurs when "LAN" and 24,32 bit color with Windows 10 client. Change your client setting other than that or compile xrdp (not xorgxrdp) without librfxcodec is possible workaround so far.

Since I'm not familiar with the RDP jargon, let me see if I got this right. RFX is the RemoteFX protocol, while GFX is a newer extension, perhaps the one described in MS-RDPEGFX. freerdp implements a subset of GFX according to FreeRDP/FreeRDP#3162, but that's not enough to talk properly with Windows 10 clients.

The solution is to either not use the LAN connection mode, or disable RFX in xrdp, which makes it fall back to an older protocol; that doesn't sound too good.

Can we leave this open until something changes, either in xrdp or xorgxrdp?

There's also an issue about RemoteFX with Win 10 in xrdp repo neutrinolabs/xrdp#854. I think this issue should be talked in xrdp rather than xorgxrdp. This one is raised earlier but let's close this one.
