Hmm... I didn't notice any problems with my version. Perhaps I wasn't looking closely enough.

this may be because we're on the windowing patches branch
from neomutt.
I've just compiled the gentoo branch and set your index_format, but I still can't reproduce the problem.
Also, I followed the instructions in the Gentoo build script and ended up with exactly the same source code.
I'll keep looking...

I'll run some additional tests myself.

Yup, just confirmed by recompiling on the above Solaris box with --disable-sidebar that it works correctly without. So not a Solaris oddity.
from neomutt.
Good (on the Solaris front).
I just don't see how the problem's happening.
The only thing the Sidebar's telling the Index Panel is the width available. That happens once. That implies that some emails are triggering a bug. But that doesn't explain why disabling Sidebar fixes it.
Aha! Right, I can reproduce the problem now. My terminal was too wide.
from neomutt.
I don't understand the Sidebar link yet, but the problem is this commit:
- Add spacing to truncated multi-column characters when using soft-fill.
Reverting it fixes the problem.
from neomutt.
Please give issue/51 a try.
A small patch for the wide-string truncation that takes into account index-color.
from neomutt.
Confirmed. This works well. Please close if this fits your workflow.
