mailbox_folder_format vs folder_format mixed up? about neomutt HOT 2 OPEN

It's a feature that was added nearly two years ago: 48908fb.

The browser is a complicated beast.
It's used for:

• file/dir selection
• local mailbox selection (mailbox, mbox, etc)
• remote mailbox selection (imap, etc)

For the local case it's useful to display the Unix file permissions, like ls(1).
Obviously they're a waste of space when dealing with remote mailboxes.
The extra config option allows you to distinguish the two.

Default values:

# printf-like format string for the browser's display of folders
set folder_format = "%2C %t %N %F %2l %-8.8u %-8.8g %8s %d %i"
# printf-like format string for the browser's display of mailbox folders
set mailbox_folder_format = "%2C %<n?%6n&      > %6m %i"

It is possible to use conditional expandos %<...> to achieve the same result, but it's a real pain.

@flatcap thanks! I'm still unsure if the behavior I'm seeing is intentional - the linked PR and the manpage say mailbox_folder_format is only used for non-local mailboxes. I'm using a local Maildir, so those lead me to believe that it won't be used. Perhaps the docs are just out of date?
