Should handle the hashlib guaranteed algorithms with an option like:

shup target -c [algorithm] file

And in the configuration file:

cksum_file = sha1

Default behavior should be SHA1.

Randomize the filename in the url so that

• https://example.com/myfile.ext become https://example.com/e7Ci.ext
• https://example.com/myfile become https://example.com/e7Ci

In conclusion:

• We have to keep extension in case we have one so that browser can display media without requesting a download on certain cases and users don't want to guess extension by themselves.
• Find a length for the random part: 2 to 3 chars should suffice generating respectively 3844 or 238328 possible combinations.

return_path is a string returned while the upload is finished so that if this configuration is used:

[stc_ex]
ssh_host = example.com
file_path = /www/static
return_path = https://files.example.com/
file_ttl = 1w

Using shup will return:

# shup stc_ex file.ext
https://files.example.com/file.ext

If parameter not set, nothing is returned.

Link the file_path parameter available for modification from the CLI.

Add some informational output while processing.

So that one can run (with the README example):
shup stc_ex file_1 file_2 ... file_n
