fullyfeedly's Issues

Readability.js alternative to Mercury

I was wondering if using Readability.js might be a good alternative to the Mercury API (if it's possible of course, I'm not at all familiar with browser extension development).

I remember a while ago the popular Reeder app doing the switch.

Need to remove Readability API support

Readability is shutting down its API on December 10th, 2016. We need to remove the Readability API support prior to that to avoid a broken user experience. We probably need a migration plan/dialog to help users move to a new parser if they are using Readability.

Auto show the full content

Feature suggestion:

Auto show the full content when possible without clicking the button or using the keyboard shortcuts.

Wrong RTL Left alignment

The alignment for RTL languages should be to the right, not to the left.
Left alignment also causes incorrect ordering in mixed RTL text with words from LTR languages.

Hebrew article screenshots for example:

Correct alignment (Without FullyFeedly):

Wrong alignment (With FullyFeedly):
Correct RTL Right alignment also should fix the mixed RTL-LTR order.

Thanks a lot!

Extractor problem

Hi there,

With all due respect, fullyfeedly seem to be a very awesome browser extension, can help saving time and focus on the interested content, with less browser tabs switching!

I just noticed that there is an issue: the recommended Mercury extractor by default isn't powerful enough to work on many websites, looks like it need many custom extractor/parser to deal with different websites, the non-default Boilerpipe is very powerful, but not only the limited quota issue mentioned in the README.md, I also found that the request from fullyfeedly to Boilerpipe web service will face CORS error issues, which means it's not working right now, combined the different situation together, fullyfeedly will only be 100% working on limited websites.

Not sure if it's because the websites I frequently visit can't be properly parsed by Mercury is a coincidence, but I do compare the extracted result with Boilerpipe's, Boilerpipe works pretty better, in contrast, Mercury sometimes just extracted not meaningful html tags.

For the first part, I guess I can only write custom extractors and send pull requests to Mercury, but it could really consumed time, and not pretty scalable.

For second part: I've opened an issue at kohlschutter/boilerpipe#28, if anyone is also looking for a workaround, here it is: https://add0n.com/access-control.html (CORS Unblock).

Not sure if there is anything we can do to help improve the issue, will hosting an individual Boilerpipe web service be a considerable option? Or it's better to find some alternatives?

Thanks a lot!

Change language of Feedly

Pull request #25 added the translation of the buttons "Show full article" and "Show article preview".

I was adding the Italian version and then I realized that my Feedly is all in English:

schermata 2016-09-24 alle 12 56 34

Is it just a configuration of my account? Or there isn't actually a localized version of Feedly?
In the second case, I am not really sure that translating just the button would make a lot of sense.

What do you think @patou ?

it's....... not working?

i have no more succinct way to put it, the extension is just not working, no "show full article" feature in any of my feeds. i stopped and restarted the extension, removed it and re-added it, fiddled with what few options there were to fiddle with--nothing.

API error 503 not handled

This happens when boilerpipe exceeded the daily quota:

Over Quota
This application is temporarily over its serving quota. Please try again later.

View full article button doesn't show when using title-only view

When in title-only view, the View Full Article button doesn't show at the bottom of the article, like it does for magazine and card views.

Replace Mercury Web Parser API

The Mercury Web Parser API will be shut down and stop responding to requests on April 15, 2019.

The Mercury Parser code is now free and open-source, as well as the code that powered the Mercury Parser API. I'll see if it is possible to deploy this in a AWS instance.
