Moondance is StepMania with 60 FPS on Raspberry Pi 4

This a a working version of StepMania with 60 FPS on a Raspberry Pi 4. Based on the work of these awesome guys: https://projectmoon.dance/

Quick Start

  1. Download Rasperry Pi OS 64-Bit https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspios_arm64/images/raspios_arm64-2020-05-28/2020-05-27-raspios-buster-arm64.zip

  2. Flash Rasperry Pi OS 64-Bit sd card

  3. Start the Pi 4, connect a keyboard to it and start a Terminal.

  4. On terminal do this:

  cd

  wget -O SetupStepmania64.sh https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mtoensing/Moondance-StepMania64-pi4/master/SetupStepmania64.sh

  chmod +x SetupStepmania64.sh

  ./SetupStepmania64.sh

If sound volume is too low

Enter the command 'alsamixer' on a terminal and press F6. Select "HDMI" and increase the volume with the up arrow key.

Issues with Ubuntu core

Tried this on Ubuntu core 64bit and RPi 3B+. After installing i3 wm and running the script I found two issues:

  • libglu1-mesa package missing
  • script assumes pi user, ubuntu is the default for Ubuntu (maybe use ~ instead of /home/pi?)

Black screen with mouse cursor upon startup

Hello, thank you so much for putting this together. I tried this out and everything works great. The only problem is after the raspberry pi finishes booting up and then Stepmania autostarts, I get a black screen with just a mouse cursor in the middle. I can hear the game's noises and can execute commands normally, but I can't see any of it taking place. Are you aware of anything that might be causing this issue?

Can't launch Moondance Stepmania from command line

Hi, not so much a bug as a point of confusion :D I love Moondance, I'm trying to set up to launch it with a script (so I can trigger it from the home automation on my media centre without plugging in a keyboard) but I can't get it to load from a non-gui script, even with display=0.0 in the command line or exported. Is it using some weird method to grab the current display, and is there a way round this?
