better's Issues

CollectiveOne

Hi @mockdeep, sorry if I use this channel to get in touch with you.

We are working on a tool similar to Bettermeans. It's called CollectiveOne, and we have a prototype at www.collectiveone.org. The idea now is to improve the tool by applying its method.

Would you like to get involved? We are using Spring Boot on the backend and will use Vue.js in the frontend.

Please let me know if you would be interested and we could have a chat. I live in Spain, but other contributors are in the US.

All the best,
Jose from CollectiveOne
you can get in touch with me at pepo [at] collectiveone.org

Current state for use in new projects

Hi! Hope you don't mind me using an issue to ask a few questions. I know some people who might be interested in starting a social enterprise/NGO project and Bettermeans was suggested as one of the core tools. I notice that its codebase doesn't seem to have been touched in quite some time, which led me here.

I wonder if you could comment on its current readiness for primetime? If you were beginning a new project today, would you:

  1. Use Better
  2. Fork again from Redmine
  3. Use another toolset entirely

I realise it's hard to answer this kind of question without details... I'm just trying to get a sense of where things were left, and how much work would be required to get it production-ready.

Cheers,
Rich.

But this is not working on production yet. Need to get it working, and add instructions to the readme for getting it to work.

A user who is not a member of a Project's team has the ability to start a task on that project.

On public projects, a user who is not a declared team member of a project can interact with that project with what seems to be the same permissions as a team member. Specifically, the random user can start tasks on the workbench and abandon them. It seems adding a task would be possible. Other functionality has not been tested.

This would seem to be a bug.
