It seems that browser.download.manager.showAlertOnComplete works only for FF version lower than 26. I could add new option in add-on settings to enable/disable alerts on download complete.

I'd appreciate that. Having to rush to explicitly dismiss the notifications so they don't time out and pile up in the missed notifications queue is very annoying.

I hadn't realized how many things I save to disk in a given day and the constant notifications are driving me nuts.
Until this bug is fixed, I'm disabling GNotifier and going back to my old policy of pretending that the Web Notifications API doesn't exist.

Try this release. There is 'Download Complete Alert' option in settings tab.
