My personal typical workflow
1. Receive the project.
2. Review and take notes.
3. After rigging and modeling - Basic ball rig to move around and get the core moving (We call it karaoke Timing).
4. Thumail pass and Ref:
1. Collecting reference.
2. 3D posing.
3. Grease Pencil.
5. Quick rough Grease Pencil storyboard pass to get a feel for timing.
6. Blocking and Spacing (not on stepped) because you can end up with a lot of rotation issues.
7. Review, Clean up, Review, Clean up, Review, Clean up ........
