Unable to download all pictures, only a few could be downloaded but a lot of won't work.

I keep getting this error whenever I download videos. Pictures are fine. Using Chrome.

Not able to pinpoint it yet but I am having troubles downloading Instagram posts with Firefox. When I click the download button on either a post or story, it shows up as failed in the download manager. Same on a different machine.
Both Firefox 88 and Media Helper 1.17.2.

When I check the failed URL in the download manager I can use this one and copy it to the address bar. It will show me an image, a smaller one though. It isn't the resized/full version. For every image, for every account.

I also tried Edge and Chrome. It does seem to work in there but I am not getting a full size image either.

i went to Instagram to try and download a video and it would not work. stories downloaded photos downloaded but not the video. I have version19.2 is there a newer release i should download. i click on the icon in the bookmark bar but it still would not go to desktop

At least in Firefox.

On stories only for pictures it doesn't work anymore

this add on was woking fine then it stopped downloading insagram stories as videos insted now it comes up asa photo

Hi! Thanks for the great script/extension – been using it for a while.

Would it be possible to make it so that, when using the extension in Incognito mode, the files will download in that same window (i.e. so that the download bar appears at the bottom of that Incognito window)? Currently, clicking the button on a page open in an Incognito window/tab instead downloads the files via another normal (non-Incognito) Chrome window – and causes the download bar to appear there – rather than the current/active window. This can make it hard to tell if a file actually downloaded or not.

Changed from script to FF addon because of video download problem. Version 1.11.0 doesn't ask where to download picture/video. Automatically saves to default folder.

Also, would like to download higher quality picture like other addons/scripts.

First off, thank you for a useful plugin.

I have a feature request; could it remember the last place that it saved to, and default to there? Currently it keeps moving me back to Downloads which means that if I want to save certain things in certain places I have to either keep moving around in the save dialog, or I have to do a separate thing where I save things, then I move them around in the finder.

Either way, again, thank you for doing this.

Now that many extensions stoppped working in Firefox, many users started using Waterfox.

Please make instagram-helper to work with Waterfox.

Video stories are working fine but when clicking in the downlaod button for a picture story it get downloaded but cropped. I'm using firefox 85.0 (64-bit) on MacOS

The IG Helper stops working again, unable to download any photo.

Firefox for Android v80 changed the extensions API and Media helper is no longer compatible.

This addon works so well, I don't want to lose it to deprecation! Thanks

Today, 12/6/21 I noticed the download icon isn't appearing on my IG feed anymore

The download icon doesn't show up when I try to download a story but I can download normal images/videos. Any help?

Not sure if this is on Instagram's part or what but when I download files the usernames of where I download from don't show up in the filename. It worked fine this morning.

I just noticed today 5/20 that when I try to download a video from a profile or a story it takes forever, like over a minute at times.

Edit, it looks like Instagram is restricting video download to 32KB/s

Could you check on the userscript please? I think Instagram updated and the userscript stopped working.

Using Firefox 73.0.1 with the 1.13.0 version of the plugin.

When I save an image the username is not inserted into the filename. When there a username in the likes-section, "jimmy.carter and 2123 others" the filename will start with that username from the likes. So "jimmy.carter_12341234.jpg". The saved picture is still the correct one.

When there is no username in the like section the filename will be "_123123123.jpg".

It also still works fine with images and video's in the stories. It started going wrong today, Firefox 73.0.1 is released/updated today, a coincidence? I don't know when the plugin was last updated for my browser instance.

@mittya Doesnt properly work with the new instagram design change.
button isnt displayed on the main page

Instagram has added a new tab for Reels. Currently, media helper doesn't show up on these reels. Can we add support for downloading the reels too?

@mittya @walterfemiano Just noticed this today, When I try to download a video from a post I get Failed - Network Error.

WF 56.2.1 IG Helper 1.8.13

Script: Clicking Button does nothing
Extension: Clicking Button automatically downloads picture/video to "Downloads" folder bypassing "Where to download" dialog box.

How can I make that button always showing? Now I must move cursor to the picture to get it visible.

I know this is a minor inconvenience, but it would be a huge quality of life improvement to this addon in my opinion.

Would you consider making the whole photo or story screen a clickable download? Or maybe even make the download button much larger and transparent?

I would prefer that over having to move the mouse to the small top right corner button every time.

For the most time, I need't download those pictures. But your script enable me to right-click image, it's so useful. so can I hide the button by set a flag?

Looks like IG redid things again. All my IG styles/scripts don't work anymore. WF 56.2 & Chrome 67.0.3396.62

The UI has been far harder to use since today, restarting ff bears no results. Doesnt even download public account videos or photos now

This seems to be random rather than systematic, however, so I don't know what causes it.

When I hover mouse on video I got:

It would be very good if we can download all images of an user with one click.

It still works with videos in stories but not with videos in post anymore :(

@mittya and @walterfemiano Today, March 23rd I the download icon doesn't show up on profiles, but DOES still show up on the main IG feed ONLY when there is one image, if the post on the feed has multi photos the download icon does NOT show up.

After updating to version 1.1.18 and even trying removing it and reinstalling it the download button will not do anything.
Firefox version 88.0.

Once it did managed to download and the resulting file only contained this:

On stories the icon doesn't show up

First of all, thanks a lot for this add-on!

By default, it follows Firefox setting for whether always ask you where to save files, or automatically save files to a specific given folder.

Would it be possible to have a dedicated setting for this add-on in this respect? I'd like, for example, to have Firefox always ask where to save files, but for media helper, to have it to download automatically to a folder different than a folder specified on Firefox settings.

What information IG Helper accesses and does it send it out side of my computer?

Script doesn't work. Download button is visible but doesn't do anything.

FF/WF extension auto downloads pics & videos. Skips "Where to" download dialogue and downloads directly to my computer.

Win 10 Pro WF 56.2.0 IG Helper (ext. & script) 1.8.10

No issues on Chrome that I can see.

1> Is there a way I can use this offline through my terminal ? That would be very cool.
2> Is there a way a shortcut can be set for downloading the currently open image / video on page through this extension, aka some shortcut like windows + ctrl + z doing this etc ?
3> Is there a way to show the media download in the main grid page itself, instead of us users having to click on the image / video on it's dedicated page and then clicking on the media helper icon to download ?

This is a wonderful extension I have even rated it 5 stars, any kind of direction / help to improve it even more for me and other users would be very helpful @mittya

Trying version 1.17.1 on Firefox Nightly

Looking though code, _box.addEventListener('mouseover', ...) is working - I get a download icon

But _btn.addEventListener('click', ...) is not working, as I never get a download prompt.

Looking through https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Touch_events, I think a touchend event handler is also needed.
