Cannot update Wordpress plugins

Hey @MikletNg.
First and foremost thanks for the awesome design. I have learned a lot from your design.
I managed to deploy your design to AWS. The site is up and running and everything is fine.

But I have some problems regarding WordPress plugins update. I noticed that in the README section, you installed the plugins through a bastion Linux. I did the same and they successfully installed them. But when I logged in to "wp-admin" and want to update the plugins, they failed. I opened the WordPress Cloudwatch log and saw the error:

NOTICE: PHP message: PHP Warning: chmod(): Operation not permitted in /var/www/html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 173

So, Is there any specific reason that you installed the plugins through the bastion Linux? Can plugins be installed through the "wp-admin" page?
