Killer Ethernet E2500v2 - DELL G5-5590(2019)

Is it the kext for this adapter? There is a lot of people saying me to use AtherosE2200Ethernet, but it's not working for me... I try a lot of times in Catalina, but i can't get it work...

Installing the driver

Hi,
This isn't an issue but rather a support request. I have built a Hackintosh and I'm getting very sporadic kernel panics that always seem to point the AtherosE2200 driver. On Tonymac a user suggested he used your plugin for a similar issue which fixed it.

The thing I'm unsure about is how to install your plugin, I can remove the old and rebuild the cache, I just can't workout how to get a .kext out of your zip download.

Any help is appreciated.

Wake On Lan not working

Kext Version : 2.2.2
Device : Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2200
Os : macOS Sierra (10.12.1)
Motherboard : MSI H97 Gaming 3

Hello, I can't get WOL working on my hackintosh.
I think the BIOS config is good, I allowed wake up by PCI-E, wake on lan works when I shutdown from the windows partition but if I shutdown from macOS, it's like the wol packet is ignored.

I wanted to troubleshoot but I don't know where to activate the "debug mode" (maybe clover but did not find there ?).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

However i have an issue with it.

Sometimes (without doing anything special) the connection is lost, ans immediatly back.

[Question] Killer E3100x support

Hi,

I'm getting delivered a brand new laptop within the next 3 weeks and I was wondering if the Killer E3100X is going to be supported (if not already).

Wake On Lan not working from either sleep nor shutdown

I have found this thread: #12
Which informs me that in S5 state (completely powered off) Wake On Lan should not work (as is the design).
But for me Wake On Lan doesn't work on either a completely powered off computer or sleep.

So I went into the code looking for answers, and found this:
wolCapable = false; inside AtherosE2200Ethernet.cpp

And with some googling I found this issue on another kext:
Mieze/IntelMausiEthernet#17 (comment)
Which says changing the values

wolCapable = true;
wolActive = true;

to true should solve this.
I found no wolActive, but I found wolCapable, and I changed it to true.

But it made no difference at all, it is not waking up from sleep or shutdown.
I have made sure that ErP is disabled in BIOS, and Wake On Lan is working fine from Windows 10.

Wake on Lan from sleep works, but next sleep is broken (instant wakeup)

Hi,

I have Wake On LAN from sleep working great. Except one issue.
After I have woken the hackintosh with wake on lan, and put it to sleep again, it will immidiatly wake up. This never happens when I have not used Wake On LAN to wake it up. So it is related to this driver. Somehow the Wake On LAN package is "saved" even after the computer has been woken up.

Waking up with Wake On LAN gives me this in the logs:
Wake reason: PEG1 PEGP PEG2 PEGP PXSX PXSX (Network)
That works good, but when putting it to sleep and it wakes up immidiatly, the wake reason looks like this:
Wake reason: ?

Is there any solution for this?

Keep v2.1.0 available in releases

As documented in this thread, the latest release, v2.2.2, does not work with the MSI Z97 G45's E2205 chip. Installing the v2.1.0 release works great. It would be nice if the old release was available for folks like me.

Link is always down

I've got this NIC but I'm on Linux with the alx kernel driver. I've been exhaustively for the past 3 days tried to debug what is wrong with the NIC. I've got a cat5e that works with other machines to establish a connection to a router, this doesn't work with the laptops Killer E220x [1969:e091] (rev 13).

I'm curious if you could provide any insight that might be causing this issue with your experience developing this macOS driver. Could it be that Windows driver previously may have done something that I cannot reverse on the Linux end? I'm running Arch with the 4.9.9 kernel. The laptop has an intel wireless device that works perfectly, the issue is specific to this ethernet controller.

I'd appreciate any advice :)

Fatal interrupt. Reseting chip.

After upgrading to Sierra and installing AtherosE2200Ethernet driver I experience "Fatal interrupt. Reseting chip. ISR=0x200" a few times per day. Network card stops working and requires reboot to be able connect again.

I was unable to google any solution for this issue. Do you have any idea how to fix this?

EEE disabled
BIOS settings seems to be correct.

Today I had 2 such network driver issues. I was streaming movie via samba to tv box and 2 times connection was dropped.

hi,
i have an issue with short network outages. 3-6 packets get lost from time to time. you sugest, disabling eee to solve that.
but how do i disable it?

Network interface works well some time after each boot. But every boot after random time interface is down. I have to reboot system to fix.

Kernel Panic using version 2.3.3

Updated to Open Core 6.3 and also updated the kext to version 2.3.3 which gave me a kernel panic. Rolled back to 2.3.2 which solved my problem. Running a Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K4, i7 6700K.

Jumbo 9K not work

I've a problem with Jumbo frames enabled. My pc not open network folder when setting Jumbo Frames. Under the network i can see my Nas Synology but can't open folders on Nas. I get a network error message. With MTU 1500 no problem.
when I start the hack with jumbo frames enabled, I can browse on google, but
if I try to mount a network folder on the NAS, Google or other sites no longer open.
On windows Jumbo 9K work very well can get 65-70Mb/s without Jumbo enable can get 30-35Mb/s.
On windows works well with this setting LINK

I've put your kext in Clover /kext/other
Set boot with npci=0x2000 or npci=0x3000
Test all Duplex but without luck

Only very rare chance it passed.

But ALX could works somehow, but crash when shutdown.

After a few try.
I found if I enabled Network Stack in BIOS. The problem just workaround.

Sporadic total failure of kext

Hi,
this may not be perfectly described issue as I have no idea what causes it. It happens second time today and issue is that after turning PC off, when I turned it back on on second day, ethernet was not recognized at all and nothing helped to solve this issue. Previous time it somehow worked when I installed ALXethernet back and then deleted and replaced with this kext, but not this time. If you need some specific settings or something, ask what you need.

I saw in the IOKit Fundamentals, driver need to implement probe to match with the device. But I cannot find any probe functions in this repo.

After last merge AtherosE2200Ethernet won't work if built when downloading your repository.

I'm booting fine with your latest AtherosE2200Ethernet 2.3.3 release. The problem is it only boots with the kext you built and uploaded here. But my system won't boot when downloading your repository and building it with xcode, or with the help of building tools within OC builder or Hackintool.

Here is a pic of the screen. Usually I try to take screenshots within OpenCore but this time I couldn't.

VLANs don't appear to be working

Hi @Mieze! Thanks for your work on this driver. I have been using it for the past 4 or so years with basically no problems.

I recently have been using VLANs a bunch with my homelab and have had some issues with this kext. I have added a virtual VLAN interface in network settings and have tagged it on 99. However, I am unable to reach any devices on that VLAN. I can see traffic go out in Wireshark when I ping a device, but I get no response. Right now I have an external USB adapter that I can use, but I would love to get my internal NIC working so I don't have to swap ethernet cords/get a switch just for my management network. If it matters I am running a GIGABYTE Z97MX-Gaming 5 which has the Killer E2200 NIC in it (and I am using the latest v2.3.0 release).

I know it says in the README that VLANs are untested, but if there is anything I can do to help debug please let me know. I ran grep kernel /var/log/system.log after switching to a debug version but I actually don't see any logs. I briefly looked through the upstream linux driver and nothing is jumping out to me. That being said I would love to work on getting a fix for this, and I'll try to play around with building the kext and contributing an upstream patch if I am able to fix it. With that being said I have never done any sort of kext development and my C/C++ is a little rusty- do you mind pointing me in the right direction?

  1. Is there an easy way of running the kext without having to build and replace my version in my OpenCore config?
  2. Off the top of your head are there any specific places you can think that might be worth looking at/debugging to fix VLANs?
