elk-acs-kubernetes's Issues

Event hub message format?

I have the system hooked up and working and I'm trying to get events from event hub through logstash and visualized in Kibana. The messages are flowing through, I can see the logs in logstash and there aren't errors. However when I go into Kibana the fields from the message I sent aren't there. For example the content of the message I'm sending to event hub is something like this: { "field1":"value", "field2":"value" }. Logstash parses the JSON but then in Kibana if I delete the index and recreate it field1 and field 2 aren't there. I looked through the documentation for the event hub WAD plugin but it's not very detailed. Is there some kind of format I need to change my message to so the fields are indexed and visible in Kibana?

Likely an issue with the Filebeat image prevents the creation of an index pattern

cjiang@Ubuntu-ELK:~/elk-acs-kubernetes/helm-charts/filebeat$ kubectl --namespace=elk-cluster-ns logs filebeat-cvrln

VM has reported a failure when processing extension 'config-app'.

When I try to deploy from the template the controllerNode fails with the status code "Conflict" and the error, "VM has reported a failure when processing extension 'config-app'.". This is the full error:

PersistentVolumeClaim is not bound: "es-persistent-storage-elasticsearch-data-0"

Deployed this to UK West as we are potentially looking at using the elk stack. Deployment was successful however when logging into the dashboard I see the following error

PersistentVolumeClaim is not bound: "es-persistent-storage-elasticsearch-data-0"

when I look in the persistent volumes, nothing is listed and looking through the yaml and the config, I have identified the azure-disk location storage account but there all I can see in the portal is an empty blob.

Any help would be appreciated

How do I check that event hubs is sending messages?

This may seem like a dumb question; I know elasticsearch fairly well but am still ramping up on k8s. Now that everything is up and running I have an event hub that I referenced in the setup, but when I go to Kibana I'm not sure what the index is. Since eleasticsearch is an internal service to k8s I'm not sure how to get in and check it? If there is some documentation or something you can point me to I would appreciate it. #

Confused with Common Settings for Event Hub

In the step 6 of Instructions, a link should be add to deploy a new event hub if the user does not have one.

The step

List of event hubs - event hub ENTITIES find Event Hubs list the event hubs from which you'd pull events e.g. "insights-logs-networksecuritygroupevent,insights-logs-networksecuritygrouprulecounter".

confused me that I thought insights-logs-networksecuritygroupevent,insights-logs-networksecuritygrouprulecounter is a single event hub, not two separate event hubs insights-logs-networksecuritygroupevent and insights-logs-networksecuritygrouprulecounter.

Consider support for Azure Service Fabric

Any possibility of supporting Azure Service Fabric as an orchestrator? I have numerous Azure Service Fabric and Elastic Search clusters which could be amalgamated (cost saving) if this was supported.

[DOC] need more explanation about registry URL

From documentation, no idea about how registry URL is used. It might be better if we explain how this registry will be used in the solution template and user will understand better how to provide this option.

[Doc] Add detailed introduction

What the solution template do:

  • Create a kubernetes cluster on Azure

  • Create a vm on Azure to manage the kubernetes cluster

  • Login the k8s dashboard in two auth ways:

    • Using basic auth: username/password
    • Using AAD
  • Apply ELK to kubernetes cluster

  • Get log from different way

    • Send log to logstash using log shipper (e.g. filebeat)
    • Logstash get log from event hub

What resources will the solution template create:

  • Create ACS kubernetes
  • Create an ACR if no public registry provided
  • Create a VM

require if??

Send log to logstash using log shipper

  • deploy the filebeat to your service machine, and send the log to logstash after deployment succeed.

Using event hub

  • Direct log to an existing eventhub (should not in the same rg with ELK).
  • Note the eventhub's connection string.
