Coding

  • Visual Studio Code I Mainly use it for frontend development. Github is Where all my public codebases are.
  • tmux Terminal multiplexer. This is where I live!
  • Amethyst Tiling Window Manager for Mac. I use it when I'm working with an ultra-wide monitor.
  • WSL2 Running Linux Environment in Window. I was a long-time Ubuntu user. Nowadays my work outside of my day job is all done by my home PC which runs Window (guilty as charged) with WSL2. I was impressed by WSL2 after watching this video. Planning to ditch the WSL2 and switch to NixOS with Virtual-Box and i3 after watching this video

Productivity

  • TickTick Todo List app. I used it to keep track of all my work both for personal and work.
  • Obsidian Text Editor powered by Markdown. I use it mainly for journaling. Planning to create my Zettelkasten notes with it.
  • Freedom Block websites and apps for a period you set. I use it while I'm working or whenever I need a break from the internet.
  • Rescue Time Track your app and website usages and generate analyses. It also has blocker ability but is limited only to focus (work) sessions. I use it to track my screen time although it has the blocking feature like Freedom, It's still worthwhile to see the statistics of my screentime usage.
  • Google Podcast I use google podcast as my podcast player mainly to stay platform agnostic. It does the work but features are very minimal. It would be great, if it has favourite feature.

Learning

  • O'Reilly It's where I read most of my Tech Related books. It has 80% of the books I want to read. It's a bit pricey though. Tip. they have a huge discount on Cyber Monday every year.
  • Udemy I use Udemy when I need to learn something quickly. Tip. If you are in Singapore, you can access Udemy Business for free if you are an NLB Member. You can check the instructions here.
  • Libby Reading app that connects with your library. Whenever I want to read a book (non-technical), I will try to borrow it from Libby first.
  • Kindle Cloud Reader An Ebook reader. I read all of my non-technical books with Kindle Cloud Reader if I can't borrow from Libby.
