What if the API would work like this:

<hot-autocomplete items="[[ items ]]">
  <paper-input value="{{fieldName1}}" required id="name" name="name" label="Your name">
</hot-autocomplete>

Then the user of hot-autocomplete would listen for changes in fieldName1 (or just use paper-input events which are passed through hot-autocomplete), and recalculate items from that?

In fact, if someone wants a component with wrapped AJAX, it would be quite easy to create hot-autocomplete-ajax, which would be implemented with hot-autocomplete.
