Use of flags for locales?

Thanks a lot for the profile page which makes the org a lot nicer to newcomers :)
However, regarding the various locales available, I'm not sure adding flags is really helpful.

It seems that there is a consensus that a flag represents a country and not a language (i.e. English should be πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ or πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ ?)
There are several posts out there regarding this:

I'm going to open a PR in order to remove them but sincerely welcome any discussion here πŸ™

Japanese "Welcome" word "いらっしゃいませ" is not appropriate

The word "いらっしゃいませ" is a greeting used by store clerks when a customer comes into the store.
I think this is not appropriate for welcome page of open-source repository...

Replaceable words:

  1. "γ‚ˆγ†γ“γ"
  2. "いらっしゃい"

The word 1. "γ‚ˆγ†γ“γ" means "welcome".
This word is known as Windows XP login welcome message.
This word has a nuance of "thank you for coming".

e.g.) "γ‚ˆγ†γ“γ ζ—₯本へ" == "Welcome to Japan".

The word 2. "いらっしゃい" is kind of "welcome" or "come here".
This word is often used when guests or friends come to visit homes.
A little casual word than 1.
This word has a nuance of "please come here".

literally meaning of "いらっしゃい" is "please come here". It has also come to mean "welcome".
"いらっしゃいませ (current word)" is polite and traditional version of "いらっしゃい". This is now used by only store clerks.
