guidelime's Issues

more arrow styles

  • more alternatives to lime and tomtom
  • idea: compass with a needle towards destination; compass itself would rotate or not depending on whether minimap rotates
  • idea: retail-style arrow on the border of the minimap

suggestion: "Stickied" step

Option to add a "stickied" step for X steps that stays on top while not being an actual objective.

Example:

  1. While working on next steps, grind on any mobs you can find [Sticky 5] (Number indicating how long to sticky)
  2. Do thing
  3. Do thang
  4. Do thung
  5. Do theng
  6. Do thong (Stickied step gone after this is completed)

new step: die

  • e.g. [D]
  • use event PLAYER_DEAD / PLAYER_ALIVE
  • suggested by clownster#6570

Add a slider for "Show locations for next x steps"

  • idea is to only show [L]s of currently active step (default = 1 ?)
  • should be connected to/replace "Number of map markers"
-e.g. "Show target locations for next x steps"(=[G)) / "Show additional locations for next x steps"(=[L])
  • also connected to slider "Number of steps shown"
  • suggested by ettern#2157, lag#9498

new step: npc / object

  • For killing / interacting / looting something which is not directly a quest objective.
e.g. The quest Marla's Last wish (6395): You kill Samuel Fipps (1919) and then take the remains to the grave.
  • Syntax could be [NPC1919 Samuel Fipps] / [ITEM123 xyz] / [OBJ456 abc]
  • It woud need to be specified what exactly needs to be done for cases where it is not kill / interact / loot? E.g. interacting with an npc rather then killing it. Or only showing a tooltip without having to do anything in particular.
  • Coordinates could then be added automatically.

variant of [QC] that automatically inserts the name of the objective

Idea is to have a [QC123,1] which would automatically insert the name of the mob.
Also we would need to define the syntax for that. Right now the only rules for replacing the given text for a quest is:

  • If it is empty replace with quest name
  • If it is "-" replace with nothing.

So maybe using a special character similar to "-" would work, e.g. "?":
[QC123,1?] -> to be replaced with the name of the mob

Suggested by Voodoom#4365

automatic detection for [S]

  • use event HEARTHSTONE_BOUND / call GetBindLocation to get name of zone (clownster#6570)
  • syntax would neeed to be changed to e.g. "Set hearth in [S Thelsamar]" (like #9, #10)

conditional steps

  • e.g. if you found Chen's Empty Keg and have the quest in your log, turn it in in ratchet
  • possible syntax:
    • [IF Qx] quest x is in log
    • [IFN Qx] quest x is not in log
    • [IF Ix] item x is in inventory
    • ...
  • show always, but just grey out?
  • if always visible is '[IF Qx][QC x]' much different than '[QC x][OC]'; only difference IF would not become until quest is accepted
  • if not always visible steps will suddenly appear; maybe still better since easier and more useful
  • [IF npc is alive]? in combination with npcscan?
  • suggested by Cowcium(shaunstone#2096),drsnuggles#6239

organize options

  • different tabs or panels
  • "Base options", "GUI", "Guidesteps", "Editor" suggested by Lag#9498

party synchronization

  • addon should communicate with other party members that have the addon
  • display current step and progress of party members
  • "party lime" icon
  • suggested by Nero#7253

Check class/race restrictions of quests (in particular #6387 Honor Students)

While leveling on the Stresstest a guide i was following wanted me to pick up and complete https://classic.wowhead.com/quest=6387/honor-students this quest wasn't race locked on private servers but seems to be on real Classic.

Now i noticed that questie had filtered this quest correctly and didn't show it to be available. A validation when loading/import/create a guide that would check for quests that lack the correct race + class restrictions would be cool.

['requiredRaces'] = 6, -- bitmask ['requiredClasses']` = 7, -- bitmask

Full guides on Classic release?

How confident are you that you can complete the addon or at least the first like 1-40 levels on Classic release?
This looks really promising.

Maybe you can integrate the guides from VanillaGuide?

Suggestion: Option to remove scroll arrows on the right side of window

Suggestion: Option to remove scroll arrows on the right side of window.

Currently the main window is alpha changing but then you have these huge scroll bar arrows.. most people now a days have mouse wheel.. so an option to remove the scroll arrows owuld be nice. and look better.
Thank you.

use radius for automatically generated coordinates

  • Radius can be obtained from the size of the cluster of which the coordinates are at the center.
  • This would make the arrow disappear when reaching the general area instead of the player ending up on a specific location where there is nothing at all.
